I'll model in TS, maybe even texture and render in TS, just see how far I can go in TS. If not, maybe I'll try render this in Thea.

Magical Sword WIP - Draises
So here goes, going to start making this to relax my brain outside of my hard work, and to have fun while still on the computer!

Re: Magical Sword WIP - Draises
I have finally made it to the weekend.. to do anything. So I have started modeling the sword.
After some hard week's work of render wrangling, configuring a network, and some rigging..... I can relax.
I started off with a projection then cutouts of the parts I have.

It's looking pretty good! Thinking on textures now. Maybe I will try play with displacement maps. But I'm still thinking of textures.
i am yet to finish extruding/bevling some of the blades and work on the handle more and how everything will fit together, then I will do the UV's. I might stick to only TS with the final everything, workspace side.. it's a nice relaxing program to use.

I have finally finished the modeling, localized subdivision, and put on some textures. I am not incredibly happy with the bump map detail of TS, but it is only direct X 9 after all. 11 with it's tessellation is far superior for sure! My I should try make movie or art in game engines.
Now.. for a good story and a background.

Re: Magical Sword WIP - Draises
Finally finished the model and textures. Took most of the day. But I played with Blender and did some effects. I tried to work on the antialiasing. But my video card is just an integrated one (good as is, but not good enough). I did use Softimage to do the DOF with it's compositing system, but other than that, I used free software! TS and blender for most of the compositing.
I like Blender's compositing, tho I must say it is a little dummed down and only can reach it's full potential with it's own render pass information... I think other advanced programs can do better. For basic compositiong, blender is the way to go tho! Very use friendly.
I like using TS, it's like making higher quality game art in the workspace side. I hope you like the sword!

Re: Magical Sword WIP - Draises
Gonna write a story..... thinking about what I will have it as. My roommate thought it was an elven sword, and my other roomie thought it was a Key-sword (some cosplay something).
So I'll figure things out. I liked how the end was a gem, so gotta figure that out too.

I liked the color on the orange wireframe. The jewel tip is cool.

Just use every other word in your posts of this tread. No one said the story had to make sense, just a story.
example: the sword wrangling through a network of extrudes it came about through the final workspace as cosmic inspiration.
