The video on youtube is very good but it is important to know that the models on the scene need a lot of work before to do a photo render like this. Maybe several days. It is the same thing for many pictures to promote a soft. It would be good to know what we can do in a SMC to have an idea of the real possibility when we use a soft for a job where time is money. I can do a caustic effect with the same quality with vray but i need a lot of time to do the render. It would be good to compare several render engine with the same scene when we need a real photo render (time to render with different quality). It would be a good thing to choose the render engine we need.
Yup true !It takes a lot of time to get that quality models but its realy good to know that the render engines are all improving so we are not
very far away from real photo quality. Point is that we have some pretty good options here because the engine isnt only a
standalone renderer its an animation suite......
Vray standalone is 1000$ so thats a big ouch in the pocket but also pretty good.

This animation is a post process with several images. i can imagine the time to render with a real animation with cam movment. The computer can work all the nights and you have the surprise for the morning. It is a good way to begin the journey.
My vray version is the old truespace version and it cost about 200 euros (i don't remember). It is not the best but it can do good caustic if you have a lot of time to render and it is useful because it is really integrated into Truespace as Lightwork (same editor). I am waiting for another computer to use better render engine for my job. When i do design i use often glass shader for perfume bottles and caustic is really a problem for me when i have no time to do what i want. I am waiting for windows 7 to buy a new computer with a core i7. I hope it will be better than my old e6600. And the cost of i7 computer is the price of about 20 seconds of animation when i work for TV. Here is an image from a full hd animation (50 percent of the original):

No its not ! Its only one render and you can turn lights on and off as you wish thats a trick that Maxwell used first in his engine......
like I said a ghost hehehehe !Thats an unbiased render though !

Ok it is one render with kind of layer for each light as a "3d photoshop". I use often several images with different lighting to create an effect with post process. but it is manual and this function seem very interesting. (I think you have not see my picture because i had changed my last post some minutes ago).
Nice shot Marcel !
Yes its a function one of many and thought I´d give you all a heads up...

In my castle i have a room with different lighting and use a post process effect to change the lights. When i saw your youtube video i think about what i can do with this function. It would be useful for me to create a web page with an image and differents cursors to change the light in real time. It is that king of function i need to show an atmosphere to my clients before render an animation.
the product is still in alpha so stay tuned to the forum there they come up with a cool feature now and then...
Yes you are right there is lots of room for someusefull things

TS plugin developers -- the Thea site says they are looking for plugin developers. That's for other apps but there might be a job there.
