I'm one of those people who never really gelled with 7.6, when I got my i7 I installed 7.6 to see if it worked and left 6,6 and the installer on my old pc, my daughter wanted a PC so I took out the hardrives which sat on the shelve for over a year, we decided to get some pictures and what not off it a few days ago and with out really thinking I whipped it and within 30 seconds realised what was still on there!
I'm gutted , I have no chance of getting it again, I guess it might be recoverable..
One of the reasons I went to Sketchup was my old AMD had multi thread issues and would crash, over time I got it working but only on 1 thread and could only use wireframe view, something that was still an issue with 7.6

Did you loose your serial number too? If not someone here could send you the program.
As long as you didn't write to the HD there are programs that can retrieve it. I believe I have one of those programs you might want to try also.

No the serial was with it and we've already put files on the drive

Its more a nostalgia thing, things like "the Daimler Bike" was my big turning point were I thought "hey I can do this!" I did that on a XP2000 computer than just couldn't handle the scene and I fried a cpu rendering it.. I actually had the dual core AMD at that point but the XP2000 never crashed just really slow, happy days lol, I couldn't deal with renders taking 2 days now

Some of the files may still be recoverable. New files only damage part of the old stuff. It is no harm to get a recovery tool try. There are companies that can read the ghosts of old files unless you used a wiper to overwrite them many times. They charge a bundle and would have access to everything on the disk (business info, private letters ...) though.

Although you didn't gel with 7.6 the model side is pretty much just 6.6 plus a few goodies. (regular model side no need for the 6.6 tab). It won't take much for you to get used to model side. It is time to move from TS anyway but access to your old files would be good. I miss some lost old stuff too.

The model side 7.6 have the hdri render. That is the best add. If you use only this side, 7.6 is better than 7.61 (update for the workspace only and more bugs on the model side).

Its not the end of the world at least there is an option, it would be far worse if TS7x was sent to oblivion and I'd just deleted the remaining copy
