MY new PC - StealthGLaDOS

Post by MikomDude »

So my old PC was getting a little outdated. It had trouble running some games and the HDD and motherboard started developing some errors. Now though, I built a new one. My very first completely custom built PC.

Case: Coolermaster Centurion 5 II BLACK.

PSU: Corsair HX650

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z22X-UD3H (LGA 1155)

CPU: Intel i7-3770K (OCd at 4.1 Ghz)
CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro H70 Core

RAM: 2x 8GB Corsair Vengeance (16Gb)

Graphics Card: Gigabyte Geforce GTX 680 OC "Windforce" Edition

Storage: 2x 500 GB Samsung SSD

Now it is worth mentioning that though some of the contents are quite impressive, other parts were a mere budget solution.
All of this cost just a little under a 1000 euros.

Also, excuse the mess in some parts of the PC. I'm still working on the cable management.

Why StealthGLaDOS? I always give my computers a name (Usually GLaDOS) and this one got something that fitted its hmm, unique style. :)

She had a small (well big) overheating problem at first, that's why I bought the Corsair liquid CPU cooler. Seriously, the stock Intel heatsink plus fan was utter shit. But now she runs like a charm.

I also have some models finished and another I'm currently working on. I will post them soon!

Nice machine MikomDude. as for the overheating you should never oc with the stock cooler.
my i7 3770k is cloked at 44 maxed out just under 70c idle 21c
i haver a freezer 13 air cooler does the job nice .
Is this for gaming or 3d work .
Again nice work man

Yeah, like I mentioned I had a limited budget so I really hoped the stock cooler would cut it. It didn't. Not even at the standard 3.50 Ghz. The extra money on the CPU cooler was well spent though, it cools it just fine and it runs at around 30 C idle and around 70 C at max load. That isn't bad for such a compact case. :)

Great! No regular HD? Are SSD's that trustworthy now?

I want a new computer. What can I afford, let's see ... Ebay ... Commodore 64 ...

I'd say SSDs are trustworthy enough Finis. They aren't as fragile as a normal HDD. The amount of data you can write to SSDs is pretty huge as well now. I'd say I'd rather put my faith into an SSD now than a mechanical HDD.
Oh and they are lighting fast. :D

And that Commodore 64 sounds amazing! a supercomputer for the ages :)
