Aircraft WIP
I'm working on something that will also involve the Ka-17 Flying Tank. Here is an aircraft I've been working for that will play a certain role in this project:
PS, does anyone know what aircraft this is, the person who does wins a free cookie

Re: Aircraft WIP
Yeah, that's very close but not entirely how I planned it. You will see soon (I hope).marcel wrote:maybe with a landing strip on the ka-17...
Update (still WIP), maybe now it's easier to see the aircraft (insert name here and get free cookie):

Re: Aircraft WIP
Well, you did a good job. How come you know so much about old aircraft? I know because my father is crazy about all old aircraft so I was more or less raised with all of these names, Spad, Fairey Swordfish, Gloster Gladiator. And later the Supermarine Spitfire, Hawker Hurricane, Messerschmidt, Stuka, Corsair, A6M1 Zero, etc... These are only some I can by hart. Others I've already forgotten

Re: Aircraft WIP
when i was young I loved to build models. I often forget the name but not the form and a search on google image gives me the memory.

Re: Aircraft WIP
Yeah, that's how my father started as well.
I also have some models that I build myself but it's hard to get those really old aircraft nowadays. I suppose building models has been replaced by games with 3d models build by other people, like us

3d or real, most important is have the pleasure of creating. first Star War models was real and the last was 3d but the creators are the same who love to creating.

Re: Aircraft WIP
Oh yeah, I'm sure. Even though I always liked the original StarWars models better than the CG models... On the other hand, I would love to try making a Naboo Starfighter some time

Re: Aircraft WIP
damn to slow lol
I used to build WW2 planes as a kid, just down the road from were I live a Canadian Lancaster bomber pilot crashed, he stayed at the controls while his crew bailed out to stop the plane crashing into the buildings, brave guy, the main road is named after him.
We had two big bases near by in WW2, one at what is now Teeside airport (northeast UK) and the other which is a race track

Oh my god, that's awesome!! It looks really good, like those models in Star Trek, they are also huge.
You are really a 3d modeler in every way

Re: Aircraft WIP
good model. just a problem with the cockpit. the windows seem don't stop at the good position. or it is the view who give that look.

Re: Aircraft WIP
Hmn... not sure. I did rearrange the cockpit a bit though after I posted this image so maybe it's fixed now. I've finished the Gladiator and am now working on a storyboard for a short animation featuring ... loads of cool stuff (including the Gladiator)

Re: Aircraft WIP
Ah you mean the fact that it is not rounded, yes, I know and I sort of did that on purpose because I wasn't sure how to build the rest of that part. Actually, there are also other parts where I've improvised a little just to make it look cool. Since I made the Gladiator specifically for this animation that I'm working on, I thought I could get away with a few personalized things here and there. Guess not

Re: Aircraft WIP
...well, I have to confess...
responding to the comment about plastic model kits...
for a recent significant birthday I got the last 1:24th scale Airfix Hawker Siddeley Harrier that I could find in Sweden (Airfix seem to be making it again, though). This was the other hobby that trueSpace replaced....but then nostalgia got me...
My brother made the Spitfire in the same series (when we were teenagers) and when the Harrier came out I coveted it, but it was well outside my budget. Now I have to make it -a distinct possiblity now we have a new hobby room in our cellar!

Re: Aircraft WIP
Yeah, I also got the Spitfire and a Harrier as well
only I'm not sure if that one was an Airfix model... Our local toy store doesn't have that many models unfortunately...
Where in Sweden do you live? I live in Värmland where it is almost winter.
