TS 7.6 AND WINDOWS 7

Post by JOHNHOWARD »

I am about to upgrade my Vista machines to Win7.

Has anyone done this yet and then used TS 7.6?
Should I cease and desist?
Is there a thread on this already?

Does anyone have Bill Gate's home phone number?

It's not all beer and skittles, good luck.

With all i have tested it seem the best choose is:
modelside: TS7.6 and XP
workspace: TS7.61 and vista
Win 7 is too young to be sure. All OS is ready... after the first patch. ;)

If Windows 7 doesn't work with Truespace 7.6, then it means that we will be forced to stop using TS when we need to upgrade to Windows 7.
This means in the next 3 years for most off us.

This means that those who want to use Truespace for the next few years cant upgrade to Windows 7
or need a machine with Vista at the latest.
This means that you cant upgrade your equipment for faster renders and multi x coreor need a second machine.

Lesson learned 1. dont rely on software ..... any of them.....
2. learn to get yor mind around new things sooner or later.
3. make enough money to get whatever you find that fits your workstyle.
4. dont loose your heart on any piece of equipment or tool...

Can't you just run t.s on Windows 7 in XP compatability mode????
I use mostly ts6.6. Really don't want to loose that !!!
(Or 7.61 WorkSpace either)....

Although this is annoying, I don't see this as being a big deal for TS overall. It will be years before 7 is the dominant OS, and maybe by then this bug will be fixed anyway.

Really, anyone who has gone this far with TS won't mind dual-booting XP, or sparing a machine for it.

The problem with installing XP as dual boot is that drivers for new computers will be harder and harder to get hold off. Now when we have Win 7, XP support is going to be dropped quite fast. You also have the problem off activating XP - will MS continue to do that? The best hope for Truespace is probably Wine but Wine has issues with TS 6.6 - I haven't tried TS 7.6 in Wine.

Certainly not.
Xp was born in 2001 and a lot of professionals use it today. 8 years after. OS is not my problem. I choose the OS who can work with my soft not the soft who can work on the last OS. Don't be afraid, the only problem with seven is a problem of refresh of the LE. If you use the model side (like me) you can change to seven. and it is too early to know if the problem of LE can be resolved or not. But you can work with the bug even if it's a little unnerving for the workspacemen. :)
Always wanting the latest version of everything and we do nothing because we are waiting to the next thing. It is a non sense. The only one reason to stop truespace is if you find a better 3d soft, not a new OS.

You will still be able to register and buy Vista for a long time, you can still buy XP (at least as an OEM).

And I predict that XP drivers for hardware will still be available for at least five years. Maybe ten or more, who knows, XP is the most successful software product of all time. You can still get drivers for w2000 for ATI cards.

And why would you use TS with linux? In fact, why would you use linux at all, don't you like yourself? (I'm joking, just in case that isn't clear)
