Yafaray Update

Post by clintonman »

Posted in the yafaray4ts forums, http://www.yafaray4ts.org/forum/index.p ... ,29.0.html"
An Unofficial update for Yafaray 4ts :) and notes of what I found out about yafaray+truespace.

The z channel option does not do anything as far as I can tell.
Hair takes on the same material as the base mesh it grows from.
The fog option does not work for Yafaray xml files. I exported a scene with working fog in xml format from Blender and it did not render any fog.
Skeletal meshes, characters, will export if you apply subdivision to the mesh and optionally reset to the lowest subD level.
Skeletal meshes will also export if you apply a morph to the character. Apply morph then right click to immediately exit the tool.

Update version 0.7.0A is the number I gave to it. I downloaded v0.7.0 as a base but the about says 0.6.1 The fixes seem to be there so I think it's ok.

Skeletal mesh animations will export when you use the new "Render Animation 2" button. The original "Render Animation" button is also still there.
Under the "set" tab there is an option to render to exr files instead of tga.
Small correction to fog export, but like I said before fog will not work.

The exr files have a transparent background when loaded into photohop cs3. The background is invisible. To get an alpha channel and a color background I use the load image and save image composite nodes(http://www.clintons3d.com/plugins/trues ... index.html" ) to load the file and save as a tga file. The tga files directly from Yafaray don't have an alpha channel  .

You can "install" this new object by loading it into a scene and pushing the "Save Settings" button in the "set" tab or just load it into a scene and just use it.

It's not heavily tested, but it works for me.

EDIT: A BUG FIX VERSION IS AVAILABLE LATER IN THIS THREAD

Thank you Clinton... I have a lot going on right now so I may not get a chance to get at this for a couple of months.

I wish I knew what you have already forgotten about this stuff... I might even be helpful then.

Stan found a bug in the script. If a mesh has animation on it, it would not export. The horse sample character shows this bug. The horse mesh, no the skeleton, has a single keyframe that stopped it from exporting. Attached here is the fix for that.
