Radial array Script

Post by clintonman »

Script for creating simple radial array objects. Choice of X, Y or Z axis, number of elements and full 360 degree or partial circle. The array jumps around while adjusting the center position, but it ends up in the right spot. It works by making copies of the selected object at the points of an invisible cone.

It does not do scaling, spirals or helix shapes.

UPDATE:

Fixed a bug where the orientations of the copies were off when the angle(SliceRadial) was less than 360 degrees.

Added a height option for creating things like spiral staircases.

Thanks for all the scripts Clinton!!

I have the previous version installed and if I install the new one
the installer says "radialArrayButton button already exists in the toolbar.
Would you like to replace it?"

Is this the correct method?

Update:

added radius top for inward spiral effects
added maintain orientation option
added replace base object with selected item
select the center control after running the setup script for the array
name array based on the original scene item
copy instead of moving the scene item into the array

Wow, you're right. The whole server is down.

Looks like it was hacked. I found some strange junky files. Deleting now, but still offline.

Edit: Ok back online. :bananatyping: One file was misbehaving and all the rest look ok.

Edit: Bad files still showing up. :x Opened a help ticket...

Update: Sites been clean for 11 days. I think I got lucky, it could have been a lot worse.

Update September 2019

New alternate version of the Radial Array Script

http://clintons3d.com/plugins/truespace ... rray2.html

Differences from first version:
completely different internal scripts and techniques
smooth array updates
can set radius independent of the center control
can rotate all elements on individual centers
less predictable array center control - the original version has different set of misbehavior
default z axis array is better than the original, x and y axis are different (maybe worse)

October 8 2019 - removed maintain connector - trueBlue
