True Space and Wiindows 7 64 bit

Post by billlygoat »

I have been having a hard time running TS beta on the Windows 7 64 bit system. It just wouldn't display right...But last week I figured it out (somewhat) If you right click on the TS install file and then choose Properties...and then click on the Compatibility folder.....and then choose to run in Windows XP mode, then it displays much better...but not perfectly...I am sure most of you know this, but for those who don't...well, Merry Christmas!

No problems here with LW, Dribble or Vray.

I think to buy win7 32 bits version in a few month with a new computer. I am not sure that win7 64 bit version is better for a TS who was made for a XP 32 bit. There is too many difference between both OS.

Yes,
I am using windows 7 64 bit and I wish I had 32 bit..I recommend that you do not get windows 7 64 bit. My HP laser printer (1000) is not supported in 64 bit. My Paint shop pro would not load in 64 bit...and my TS beta would not run in win7 64 bit. I ran PSpro and TS in windows xP mode and both of them set up...but the Lightworks renderer does not works right , the virtual light seems to work ok so far.

This is very strange. I use Windows XP 64 and all window program that I have tried so far have worked perfect with that version. The only thing that doesn't work always is program that have stupid copyright protection systems like "starforce" and other software that more or less corrupt windows (this is mostly an issue for games but most modern games work fine even in 64 bit windows).

Of course the drivers needs to exist in a 64bit version also but most major drivers exists. I am surprised that HP haven't released 64bit drivers for your printer. My solution to printer drivers problem have actually become to put the printer on my linux server and share it as an Postscript driver from Linux, thus negating the need for special printer drivers on Windows... but that is a long way around the issue. ;-)

I'm running Win 7 64 bit and have no problems with TS other then the LE refresh problem, which is pretty much fixed with a plug in.

I dont have VRay, but DX9, Lightwave and Virtual Light renders work just as they did previously.
