Is is possible to assign a blue DX material to a green VRAY-Material of one object?
In other words, is it possible to change VRay-materials without changing DX-material?

yes, here is an example I just created for you.Wigand wrote:Is is possible to assign a blue DX material to a green VRAY-Material of one object?

it is a sphere object zipped. Load it, go into the Link Editor, and you will find on the top level of the sphere in the Link Editor you can assign a color for the workspace and another color independently which Vray will render.
Enjoy!
The zipped RsObj file follows the render example

Thank you 3dvisuals dude
Do I understand it right, that I have to set the materials inside the LE to have
different colors for DX and VRay?

You could always set the object panel to open automatically in your stack view, then you could simply click the appropriate colors from the color picker on the panel which shows there when the object is selected in workspace, that could save you a lot of time avoiding the LE when you have many objects to re-color for a VRay render I suppose. Also, you could use material instancing for identical materials used by many objects and then change them all at one time. I am just learning about that myself.
I realize that the method I used is not very comprehensive, but the methodology could be expanded on and enhanced no doubt in a few ways.
If I come up with a better version I will post it here!
Hope all is well with you by the way, I haven't seen you around in some time and I was happy to help in any way I could.

I worked on a watch for which I had blueprints. It was nearly finished when I noticed big
faults in the number of teeth from the blueprint. So I had to redo it from start and you
can imagine, I was rather disappointed. Now I try to animate it by script and this is not
easy because of the slow response of the scripts. And I have some points about moving
and rotating which I do not realy understand, as you can see in my question in the TechForum.
A second reason is, I was invited to play bass in a country band, so I had to train it
and listen to the records.

I wish I had a pfennig for every time I had to start a project all over again, I know the feeling very well !
On rotational axes issues, jason (froo / frootee) and I discovered that the modelside axes setting was the way to go on gears due to inaccuracies in the workspace axes, but that was back in trueSpace7.51, I don't know if the bugs persisted to newer versions. You may want to set your gear axes on modelside to test that. As I recall it was a very elusive issue, but setting gear axes on modelside solved it completely at that time.
On timers yes... there is a slow startup of timers with the newest timer versions, Dele first mentioned this ages ago and uses a much older and far more accurate timer. I will attach the one he uses to this post, I hope that helps.
EDIT:
the timer download I posted here an hour ago was a newer timer than the one Dele referred to as being accurate so I am replacing the download link here now. The one he referred to as accurate is from the old tS7.0 days and here is the thread where he refers to it and offers that older timer for download there:

I love bass by the way, I am a guitarist of sorts but have not played professionally in decades now. I especially love the accoustic fretless basses!
Well, when you have more time drop in to our new shared spaces some weekend or evening (western hemisphere evening that is) we'd all love to chat with you in there like the old days!
All the best!

Re: DX together with VRAY
Thank you for your detailed answer. When I come home from my job today, i will
test the timers and your hint about modeler axes.
And yes, I am more familiar to play guitar than bass. I use an E-fretless bass.
It is more difficult to set the fingers on the right place, if you play fast
So I think country music ius a good start to learn it. Most of the time only using
two notes per accord. (alternating bass?)

You are most welcome my friend, hope that helps!
I think I could listen to someone playing bass with only three fingers total using both hands and still love the beat and the way the bass shapes the whole rhythm and feel of a melody!
There is soul in bass... blues and jazz taught me that well.
See you soon in a shared space then, and I'm looking forward to that a lot!
