Re: Challenge Mar 2015_5 Models
(sorry, but I couldn't get the beast to stand still for the shot)
Mouthbeast is/ was done, but when my computer blew up somewhere along the line I lost the textures/materials so will have to re-do. The model coming in at around 3.4 million polys is too big so this is a proxy.
Mr. Birdoo I was in the process of rigging (which would be useful for this animation) so the new one will have working parts, the old one torn apart; will see what I use.
My Z car needs a final rear end version but can hide it if an animation.
Bob is a generic rigged model, technically not mine. Been trying to rig a few characters lately but none have a face rig which I'll need if I animate; will see what I end up using.
Mr. Wiz... dunno. He just keeps hanging around all the time. Keeps showing up at the beginning of my shorts so I guess he'll make himself useful somehow..
As I read the new challenge this is the story I came up with...
CAMera closeup on the pendant Bob (the rich, full of himself youngblood) has around his neck (the pendant I'm working on to 3D print and sell). Pan up to Bob's face; he winks then motions us to follow him into the house (the scene is Bob's driveway in front of his house). Cam follows Bob as he walks towards his front door. On the lawn we see the pompous Mr. Birdoo trying to tame the beast who is tied on a chain (like a guard dog). The beast is excited to see his master come home.
A very mundane scene, with a strange group of actors, created by a whacky artist...

...SO... the "MouthBeast" scratched "Bob's" new car so Bob called his auto insurance agent "Mr. Birdoo"
The Wizard is actually Bob's son in dress-up just hanging around.
The scene doesn't end well for "Mouthbeast"

Awesome Steinie! Ahh what wild rides a creator's mind concocts...
PS: Don't temp me dude. It's hard enough creating what I thought up already.
PSS: the Beast is the last one to worry in the scene. And why he just doesn't eat the annoying bird i just don't know.
Hmm... then again...
PSSS ohh whatever... so just for the record the first physics I want to create when the time comes is a sports car smashing into a wall...
... the beast rips apart the Z96... hmmm

Re: Challenge Mar 2015_5 Models
Thanks Finis. Bob here is a variation of a generic guy based on a shared Blender rig called Flexrig. Been studying rigs to see what I like and am in process to create a good, standard rigged chaaracter that I will use; something like what Blender has now called 'Meta-rig'. (this rig ain't it. Creates too big a file, and, has a bug; don't know if I screwed up the original file). Right now the only other rig is the Wiz guy, but for the anim to really work I have to rig the Beast too.
I am now exclusively a Blender guy Finis. Even to the point that zbrush, my favorite, I am shying away from as its more efficient to just do 'start to finish' in Blender.
'Cycles' (a Blender internal renderer) is another beast to slay, but being goal oriented I just want to be a good modeler first and foremost.
Which is good for the challenge because there's no way I will have a finished, polished anim by the deadline. It's good to do some art again though.
Hey, if anyone wants to try Blender, their 'Grease Pencil' has some cool updates; even use it to create the whole storyboard, even 3D storyboard with some tricks. You all should check that out. Can make whole animations with it alone also.
As for Bob, don't like the skin color but I'm not touching him; (anyone notice the hair alpha?) don't know what I might screw up. Will just stick to the animatin'.
