Oh I like this picture. :)

some ideas?
Yes, the lighting will be a challenge.
The standing lamp and the chair shows shadows in different directions, so
I think it is an invisible light between the windows. Strange.

The sofa is a plastic sofa?

I would like a bigger window.

the interiors are nice, new lamps for the chairs. :bananathumb:

Still distracting lights.
Did you ever seen an invisible light at home, where you only see the light at the wall, but not the light source?
I think you used one in your scene. That is not possible in reality.

The side with the window and door is to dark against the rest of the room. Too much contrast.

It seems that you use the sun light too. I can see the light from the standing lamp at the wall
together with the light from outside and the invisible lamp.

You may still use your special lights while you set up the scene, but for rendering, it would be
better to use your modeled lamps to illuminate the scene. then the scene would look much
homely. To illuminate the dark parts you should use area lights as bitkar already said.

Lots of questions on this one Ranger...

1) What time of day are you going for?
2) As was asked, reality or cartoonish?
3) Can I sleep on that purple couch? :D

Seriously tho, great start. I definitely prefer the earlier renders. The latest one seems a bit washed out.

I would love to take a shot at lighting a scene like that. Lighting is always a challenge and honestly my favorite part of doing scenes.

Wow amazing. It's very bright though and the light that shines in through the door seems a bit unreal too, you might want to adjust the angle of the lightsource a bit. ;)

Okay, so if the time you are going for is 8:30 then think about a couple of things:

1) Where is the sun at 8:30 in the AM? It seems like your room has an East facing front which would drive such sharp lights through the door.
2) How bright is the light at 8:30 in the AM?
3) What color is the sunlight at 8:30 in the AM?
4) What time of year is it? (8:30 in the summer is vastly different than 8:30 in the Winter)

I think once you answer those questions and get your exterior lights established then you will be able to better work through lighting the interior of the room.

Again, I like the scene. Looking forward to watching the progress.

Yeah, that's better. Looks very realistic now :)
Hmn... what should I complain about now, well as far as I can see, the modeling and lights all look very good. There is just one tiny thing, the background you used behind the window, what is there? I think I see trees and maybe the slope of a hill. However there are a bit to many details that I can't see, you might want to consider a simpler background with just a sky or the silhouette of a city or trees. Or you could make the windows a bit larger so we get a good view of whats behind them :)

Looks good. The lamp near the windows looks like it is on but there is no light from it on the walls. I think it would be off during the day. There is nothing out side of the door like steps or a porch. The objects have no shadows.

a little better, but...
my suggestions:

make one big window instead of that two small ones. Place some light area light at the window. If you want to use that angle, color the light like a sunset or sunrise. Tweak it to creat effect where there will be more light at window side of room a less light on the other side. Like in real world. I miss some shadows in this, its too bright, no shadows.
