L.V.I Challenge - Space Carrier

Post by MikomDude »

My entry to the L.V.I Challenge will be a Space Carrier hangar-bay... probably.
It will be a space carrier and the hangar bay will have some kind of other spacecraft present.

Some concepts that will somehow turn this thing into a thing at some point:

L.V.I Challenge - Space Carrier - WIP01

Ok, here is the first W.I.P. shot, it's just some screengrabs from the workspace but you get the idea. A large ship with three hangar bays and two cargo bays at the back. Plenty of interior options to choose from.

Here is the beginning of the SX-16.

I'm kind of working on two models at the same time here. Might just as well start on the transport ship as well... :? or not.

Indeed Dragneye, I do love sleek shapes.

Yes, the designs are all supposed to come together in the final scene. Not sure how much I'm going to have time for but I guess I'll just keeping modeling stuff until the scene is finished or the time runs out.

L.V.I Challenge - Space Carrier - Fighter: Done

Post by MikomDude »

The XS-16 Orbital Fighter is now done. Got a bit carried away on this one and it has quite a lot of modeled detail so maybe this thing is gonna end up ruining the whole project for me in the end, we'll see.

L.V.I Challenge - Space Carrier - Hangar WIP 01

Post by MikomDude »

Finally I can reveal the hangar bay. Started on it about a week ago, modeled most of it today aaand... it still feels empty. Especially on the render. Gotta work on that. The deadline is getting closer so with work plus some stupid muscle ache that's been bugging me... I'm not sure if I'm going to make it.

Now I modeled a space suit because... why not.

The idea I had for the suit was to make it like a cheap-ish looking suit that a janitor or mechanics assistant would wear.

So yeah, space janitor. He scrubs the flight deck after the pilots had their fun.

Sounds like that one game I saw floating (no pun intended) around. You play as a Janitor who has to clean up after a horror movie's just come through your building!

Good model though, gonna need a head

Or maybe a goldfish to swim around in the bowl....

Yeah, she'll need a head... although that goldfish idea is bloody hilarious. ;)

Very nice! Way better than the one we did! Love the detail. And it has the same ship =P

The other project we did was fun too, and quite frankly had a better setting than this one but I feel like we didn't spend enough time on it, maybe... Anyway, yes it has the same ship. I decided to make this project in the same style as our previous one but I ended up not having the time to model the other spaceship concept I had drawn (the troop transport) so decided on re-using the Archer Interceptor. Which was a good idea it turns out because I ended up only finishing this scene about four hours before the deadline (Central European Time).

I agree, we didn't spend too much time on it. The textures, composition and lighting was certainly not very good - your lighting hits the spot!

So will you extend the deadline a little for the other participants?

Eh, well nobody really responded as to whether they wanted a deadline or not so I figured I'd leave it but if they indeed do want more time, just say so and I'll extend it a week or so.

Beautiful job Mikom.

edit: The more I look the better they get. Add a bit of grime and you got it perfect.
