Some preliminatry shaders and textures, just to get an idea and some zen, focus, concentration, attention to detail, gum on the shoe - okay - tired - time for bed.

First two are just ambient occlusion "shadow" renders in Hexagon. The last one is in Carrara 8 Pro.bitkar wrote:hey, so far so good... what is the renderer?

Thanks froo!
Added some more stuff, a glowing crystal-like rock from the planet Krypton. Perhaps those in the lab can analyze what it does?

Re: MMC - OLD LABORATORY
maybe it should be placed in some kind of glass, container, plate, or whatever, not just lay on the table, such a big piece. Just my suggestion.

Hmm, have to look at the old Superman comics to see how they handled it. Good suggestion though!

Since I'm way ahead of the power curve, displaying some shots of the old geology Lab WIP.

Making feel like I'm in school. I see two minor things. The floor texture does tile right and there is a red thing on it. Probably the name of the site it came from.

Yeah, I noticed that and it's probably some sort of protection for that texture (perhaps stolen?) from a legitimate Website. I got it from a free Website, but it appears to be marked as you noted.

Looking good. Did you use ZBrush, Sculptris, or what for Prof. Ratt?

Used 3DCoat.
Tried Zbrush, but not really comfortable with all the tools though. I must say that Zbrush creates cleaner looking sculpts, but have yet to master the work flow.
Below is the sculpt of the rat in 3DCoat.
Edit: Just saw Dele over at the 3DCoat forums. There's a name I haven't seen in awhile.
Edit2: BTW, I used curves for most of the body. It's like Zspheres in Zbrush. I find curves much easier to use. (right mouse button to resize, middle mouse button to move and left mouse button to place) It's a very quick way to start just about any type of creature, humanoid or not. Then, after getting the basic "armature" you just sculpt on it with the details you want. You just press accept button to get your model to sculpt on. Haven't figured out how to change the curves yet, once "accepted" but pretty sure there is a way to do it like you can with zspheres.
