As I reached 40 I made some changes in my life. Stopped a few magazine subs I hardly read and reduced my digital setup to one that fits in a backpack. This leaves me an entire collection of SFX magazine which is a great record of 15 years or more of science fiction and fantasy; some 190+ issues all mint and most subscriber i.e. text free covers.
I also have every issue of 3D World and the CD's that came with them. Again, at least half are exclusive subscriber issues with text free covers. While the SFX collection definitely will be going I am also mulling over selling the 3D World collection to free up some loft space.
Some guy has enquired about them but I have no idea what they are worth (they cost over £750)...whadya reckon on an asking price if i sell? I mean, just what is ten years of CGI history in print worth?

Maybe a third of the price they had... about 250 I´d say thats what used mags sell for at our end here....splinters wrote:As I reached 40 I made some changes in my life. Re: A history of 3D World
Digital media are worthless after a few years. The paper can have a new value, a long time after being devalued. I have a collection of comics dating from 1920 to 1960 with values safe as Flash Gordon, Prince Valiant and Little Nemo. They are worth ten times more expensive than the price I paid 30 years ago (they were already old and had no value). Also some very old computer can have a value for a museum now. I regret throwing the computer that was used to create the first MS dos!

Re: A history of 3D World
My ideas are just from thinking about it and I have no knowledge or experience about selling stuff like this.
I think that your collections might have value to collectors since they are complete and in good condition. But there has to be a collector that wants them and you have to find him. Also, since 3D World is still in print that might reduce the value. I'd say check Ebay and surf the web to find similar collections and see what price might be correct then try to auction the collections.

Re: A history of 3D World
same guy just contacted me and said he had 200 euros to offer, he further added that he only wants issue 80 onwards. Problem is he is based in Canada and shipping would be over £60. Not a bad deal as it leaves me the rarer early issues and I would get around £110 for the last 46 issues....tempted.
