My son has left the work at 12 : his company is closing. My daughter's school is already closed since this morning. Most of my clients' offices are closing also.
We've got 4 month of food in the cupboards and some books left to read.
It looks like upcoming months will be interesting times

Take care everyone..stay safe
streets are empty of traffic here in Quebec Ca. as schools shut down, businesses closing, but fresh food can be bought as long as the border stays open to trade.

Czech republic is sealed and we can only go to work and shop if neccessary. Iam at work now, but finally starting tomorrow i should have home office. Most of companies have home offices already. I travel across whole Prague and there are almost no ppl on the sidewalk and like 1/3 of the normal traffic. I see buses riding almost empty too. This shit is real, it will take few months to clear. In CZ everybody is crafting protection for the mouth and nose at least, it has become a fenomenon :) Ppl are making really nice one according to last fashion :D
Seems like we in CZ did quite early countermeasures, so it will be ok, not like Italy.
Take care gentlemen!

Hi Bitkar!
We were earlier a few days here in Austria!
Making masks is nice but no real protection!
The virus is 9 micron large and only masks of class 3 can filter that size..so masks that dont do that arent realy protecting!
We have 30% plus increase still here of the cases and keeping people off the street slows the increase down!
The target is making the curve flatter..under 20%and less!
Reason is that we dont have enough hospital capacity for 30plus%...so that would end in people dead because they cant be treated! Expect to be under 20 % in about 2 weeks!
Studied medicine so yes its true ..its going to stay for some time!

Hysterical over reaction is more destructive than a problem. Fear is the most powerful weapon of all. Combine it with herd mentality or mass hysteria and its power is unstoppable. Add ignorance, mental illness, immaturity, low intelligence, assorted weakness and vices and the destruction is multiplied. Unfortunately I just described a typical human. The hysteria can decrease the ability to deal with the problem as well.
Sometimes there was no real problem. This time there is a disease. Like its siblings colds and flu, it is quite contagious and spreads rapidly. It is more dangerous to vulnerable people than typical flu. Perhaps equivalent to "killer" flu varieties or a bit more. Reasonable countermeasures are appropriate. That could cause some temporary hardship. What we are seeing is not reasonable. This is madness.

Your wife sees black widow spiders in the house. This is indeed a problem. Grandpa and the baby could be in danger you could be sickened by a bite. You investigate. Are there two? Several? Hundreds? Solutions: squash them, Thorough search and squash, pro exterminator, bag the house and fumigate. Hmm, which is appropriate to the threat? Meanwhile your hysterical wife is burning down the house.

I think that all the countermeasures, even the hard ones are apropriate.
Rayman: you are right... but if you breath out the virus or sneeze or cough it will not travel that far. Or I dont know whats the point, but we are currently not alowed to go out with no face masks. I think its dumb aswell. Going to shop with a mask can be reasonable maybe. But you are right - its a tiny bit better than nothing.
Italy is doomed, Spain is going the same direction, Germany too, the case numbers grow fast. Anyway, its always better to overestimate than underestimate. This is not a flu.

No figures are clear!
2-4 % fatality in good health care countries at the moment!
The flu is about 20x less fatal!
Major fatalities in Italy are of patients over 70!
Here in Austria the majority of those infected are between 20 and 35 and between 35 and 55 peaking! Therefore we are in a better situation at the moment with fatalities!
Yes we are 2 weeks earlier with the mesurements..and yes I am well informed because I am trying to help slow down the situation!
There is some hope with medicine..and I am pushing it here in government!(small country and as someone who studied medicine we are using statistics here to optimise how things are handeled!)
The virus uses ace2 to get into the cell and takes it with it ..!
That makes the cells vulnerable! We have these cells in the deep alveoles of the lungs but also in all blood transporting organs!
The epidemic comes from bats that commonly have many corona viruses and from them switched to animals that were eaten in Wuhan on a market! The virus passed the ace2 barrier in the intestines of humans and from there the human to human virus transport is through droplet infection when speaking or coughing@
So yes stay 2 yards away from people and dont cough into your hand! Clean your hands for a long time with soap and use alcohol solvent desinfect! Heck you could even use brandy!
The reason is that Covid 19 just like other viruses has a lipid(fat)
shell! You can break that shell open easily by using fat solving detergents inkl soap! Stay away from other people to keep safe!
On surfaces it keeps on plastic longest! Could be as long as 2 days but probably in most cases a few hours!

Irritability?
Yes!!!
Its the frustration of having to do with something that you
cant change!
You dont know if you have enough to survive....if you have work in 6 months or not.....if you fall sick and your lungs are so damaged that breathing becomes a problem!
Trump started off with its no big deal and he is now into fighting the war agains a chinese illness! So yes..some get it late but hopefully not to late!
Hey Guys, hope you are safe. Missed you long time, I just graduated in economics and will be getting back to 3D with blender this year, already started learning it in the end of last year. I kept visiting here logged off because I hadn't much to say, things were running fast, 7 years passed by.
Situation here in Brazil is about to get critical, we have an unbelievably crazy President (got elected with fake news and cambridge analytica, I think you understand it, but it is even worse than you can imagine hehe). The good news is that I'm helping coordinate a big effort to produce emergency medical equipment with 3D printers, and we are still developing and prototyping a ventilator project with the same low-cost, decentralized characteristics. It's volunteer work backed by several types of institutions, I think you should look into it if you think the epidemic curve in your country is going to overload the healthcare system, which is the case in the third world.
Wish you all the best, take care!

There is evidence that one person infected with the virus in South Korea passed the virus on to over 3,000 people by going to the store once and church twice.
This sickness is very easily passed on to others.
Stay home and keep your hands and your place clean.

3 cases reported in my village so far. One, who is the grand father of my daughter's friend, is now intubated and put into an artificial coma.
Those who can pray our Lord, please name this man in your prayers : is name is Michel.
Stay safe, that plague is not a joke.

How Czech Republic deals with it... This is not a miracle, but it can help a bit and every means you can use to stop it or slow it down are worth it.

Edit:
Hmm, checked on South Korea and it has obviously been very effective. But ... I can commend several things about their methods such as acting early and focusing on identifying and isolating the infected and exposed and protecting the vulnerable while not destroying their economy with panic policies. Their error now is escalating that to near police state level and implementing some incorrect policies even though the original actions were already effective so there was no need for that.

South Korea handled this right. No on else did.

You seem to underestimate that thing... Those harsh countermeasures have its reason. Iam quite allergic to word "panic", its not panic, its reasonable.

This virus spreads a lot faster and more pervasively than any other flu we have seen, including SARS-1. A great many of the survivors are left with permanent lung damage that you do not see with other infections. The virus grows in your lungs by killing off the cilia that absorb oxygen. Even mild cases can be extremely damaging.
The elderly and people with chronic conditions are more likely to suffer the most lasting problems if they survive. The victims of the most severe effects here include children, teenagers, athletes and health care workers.
The need to manage your exposure to this disease will not end until a vaccine is developed and the vast majority of the population on our planet has been vaccinated.
Take this shit seriously. If you don't follow the protocols and don't get sick yourself you can infect a lot of people without knowing it. You may not show symptoms for up to 2 weeks after you start carrying the virus.
Stay safe. Stay the fuck at home.

Hi everyone! I live in New Jersey and if anyone wants to visit you can get here fast! No traffic.
This is a Drone shot of the area that takes me to work. Same bridge, same streets, but looks a little different now...
Thank goodness I work from home now.
I am sure your cities and places you live in look like this now.
Ive seen similar! Ny City was like that shortly after 9/11!
I still have pictures from 2001! I was there!
Times square without cars etc!
Its not like that here! Although there are not many cars we
have quite a few people in the parks!

Here is the French guy who promotes the chloroquine medecine to cure Covid19.
Guess what is the picture behind him...
It was a good movie. The dog was an inspiration to name my dog I had that times.
Lets hope it will not mutate to turn ppl into zombies ;D
Steinie: that video of Philladelphia is kinda nice.
Btw: It turns out (there are some clues) that its been in europe (or CZ at least) even by the end of year 2019. Some ppl report to have the symptoms, even the heavy ones way before it was offically here in my country (about a start of March I think).
Even I remember my colegues had some kind of cough, that I had some aftewards aswell. I remember about a day or two with higher temps. And that cough lasted quite a long time (few weeks). So maybe I got it already very early (which would be good for me as I should be immune already). Not sure tho... I dont have a right to be tested yet, as testing is done in large volumes for those who have symptoms or are suspected now.
It ofc might have been something else.
