For instance, how about a microscopic invasion of germs in the blood stream with white blood cells resisting in an lymphatic system outpost...

Invasion weed plants battling for territory with the indigenous plants banding together in an "outpost" to repel the onslaught...

Ant colonies clashing on their empire border outposts...

Flood waters or volcanic lava rivers engulfing everything in its path except for a hastily constructed bulwark "outpost" saving a village or town...

Lots of different takes are possible! :)

I believe I'll be joining in on this one soon. I just have to come up
with my idea first.

Here are some old Outpost designs I've worked on long ago...

Would Ezekiel temple be considered an outpost ? Broad interpreptation . Anyways I've been wanting to do that for awhile. I should be able to get broad outline done before end of challenge but doubt it will be completely done. So at best it will still be a work in progress but at least in progress. A walk through and maybe interactive conclusion would be the goal using all of tS greatest and latest stuff. What do you folks think?

Yeah I may have a number of endless dull buildings in this one but you could have two stones and yet tell the secrets of the universe in yours .

Ezekiel temple? Don't think I've seen it but hey, why not, it can be a Spiritual Outpost! ;)

If the others entrants agree, we could make it a 2 month project instead of 1 month :D

I'd like to do something theuns, but right now I'm just worn out. Maybe with the extension, I'll be able to muster something up....but right now, I'm not counting on it. It's a shame too, because I've had a little idea that's been in the back of my mind for a few months now, and it would probably fit right in here.

I'd like to but probably can't. I was inspired by today's Bing background of the Bastei Bridge and area in Switzerland. There could be a great outpost there.

i hear ya mr 3d... but if you can, please do, even if its an incomplete concept prototype, we'd love to see it!

Too busy finding or making a job. I'd get focused on the fun TS'ing and not do, or concentrate, on that.

you don't do job hunting at night do you? just during the day... i'm sure you can spare an hour on an evening for some fun??? ;)

"or making a job" I work on my gallery business looking for publicity, adding or improving features, learning about advertising, and tuning the current ads. If I don't get a job soon then I'll start another business probably doing lawn/yard cleaning and labor. So I am fairly busy day and night and will probably get busier.

When I have time I prefer to go hiking to get away from it all. But, if I don't let TS'ing interfere with real world stuff then no harm done. Maybe I'll give it a try.

The idea I have is mostly landscape with a fantasy or sci fi building. A landscape with plants without plant generators or Terragen etc. Hmm. I've got an idea.

For me, modeling is also a way of "getting away" from things for a while.

But perhaps you could do some promotional visualization with tS, like Tom dit with the microsoft store walkthrough?

Don't add too much to you plate though, it is supposed to be for fun ;)

Is using Terragen or Plant Studio allowed? That is using a tool to make a model like we use tools in TS to make shapes and isn't using pre-made or purchased models. The outpost building would be hand crafted.

Otherwise I'm thinking I could learn about the shadow catcher shader and do something I haven't done before and combine a TS image with a photo.

does everything have to be modeled from Scratch for the challenge, or can we resurect old midels with a few enhancements?

The 3d part of scene we should model I would think. A tree/plant generator to me is like a tool one models with and is not premade, one has to determine settings and also textures used or modified. In the end sharing how one used the tools and how stuff was designed and made helps all of us out.

Now I may make a texture by using 3d models made already to create an offset and normal map to be used in texture form with the models I am going to make. So basically a way of making textures using tS in the pipeline while not using the models in the scene, the models are used to create textures which are in the scene.

Here is where I resurected some old models that I have been planning on completing from the video I uploaded to you tube earlier.

I have made some enhancments and lighting. I still have more work to do on the scene. Submittable to the MMC ro no?

You can use any software you want, it is not restricted to trueSpace only but the first rule of the competition is to use your own new models, no pre-made ones, sorry :(

Terragen and plant makers are tools and they generate NEW models so thats fine. trueSpace also has its own terrain generator on the workspace side...

Just updated the main thread to extend the competition to end of September and asked for WIP thread links to be posted there.

How many people do we have so far that is busy with an entry WIP?

Must admit that I have not had the time to start mine yet, need to come up with a nice idea first though! :(

I've started and expect to make rapid modeling progress, the hard part will, like in most cases, be the texturing phase.

yeah, same here, i usually browse through the ton of photo textures i have to find a suitable one... or use generic shaders i've saved...

So, did this MMC just fall down and get forgotten?

I know it is past the deadline, and I do not see any submissions. Unfortunately I ran out of time, but I am hoping to have mine done this weekend, which is well past the deadline.

Did anyone finish?

Haven't forgotten, still working on mine but did not get a lot of time... actually checked up on it yesterday.

The deadline is only the 21st September if I recall correctly.

There were a few WIP thread links posted so we have some entries, will have to check how many and how far they are.

If everybody needs more time, then we could consider extending it one more time, otherwise we scrap it and start a new fresh one for October...

yeah, also got a bit confused with that part of the rules... took it as is from the previous challenge, perhaps I will change the wording to make it more clear when the actual date is...

how is yours coming along leonregis? holding off on the voting poll so you can submit what you have, it doesn't have to be completely finished...
