The Space.Unselect() command will temporarily change 3D selection behavior.
Before running the command 3D view select will select 3D members of a 2D group. After running the command the 2D group will be selected instead of one of it's 3D members. Subsequent selects will again select the 3D members of the group.

Re: Space.Unselect() and the 3D view
Trying to replicate this behavior, using several different examples:
2D encapsulated 3D Objects
2D encapsulated, Parented 3D Objects
2D encapsulated Group of 3D Objects
Not seeing any issues with Space.Unselect()
2D encapsulated 3D Objects
2D encapsulated, Parented 3D Objects
2D encapsulated Group of 3D Objects
Not seeing any issues with Space.Unselect()

Re: Space.Unselect() and the 3D view
4 steps to see it
2D encapsulated 3D Objects
Select in 3D view result is 3D object is selected
Space.Unselect()
Select in the 3D view and result is the 2D encapsulation is selected
2D encapsulated 3D Objects
Select in 3D view result is 3D object is selected
Space.Unselect()
Select in the 3D view and result is the 2D encapsulation is selected
Re: Space.Unselect() and the 3D view

Tested in original tS, so there is no Material List.
Re: Space.Unselect() and the 3D view
Sorry, just not seeing any issues .clintonman wrote: ↑17 Dec 2023, 21:22 4 steps to see it
2D encapsulated 3D Objects
Select in 3D view result is 3D object is selected
Space.Unselect()
Select in the 3D view and result is the 2D encapsulation is selected
Step 2 - Do you mean, Select one of the encapsulated 3D Objects?
When I select in an empty area in the 3D View, nothing gets selected
When I first select one of the encapsulated 3D Objects, the encapsulator is selected
After the encapsulator is selected, I can Select one of the encapsulated 3D Objects

Re: Space.Unselect() and the 3D view
That's the whole point. When you click in the 3D view you would normally be selecting 3D objects or 3D groups. After unselect it selects 2D encapsulator. So after unselect the 3d view select changes from selecting 3D only to selecting 3D or 2D. I'm not saying it's a bug that needs to be fixed. I'm just saying it temporarily changes the select behavior. That's why I posted it here and not in the Bugs section.
