Hmm. It is from Bitkar so I'll bet it has something to do with cars.
It could be ornamental but Bitkar says you put something in it.
It doesn't vibrate. If it is for cleaning then the user provides the mechanical action. He puts something in it then shakes the whole thing or moves the item for the copper scrubber to work. Impractical. I think there is no mechanical action or movement. However, rubber feet on the bottom would be to prevent sliding implying force is applied to it.
Maybe it is not for cleaning. It could be a holder for scrubber pads. In that case the scrubber IS what you put in it.
Hmm, a specific thing goes in it for a specific purpose. A container (plastic ball), copper stuff, and rubber foot pads are needed. Hmm.

Re: Steinie's U3DA Game "What is it?"
Well the copper scrubbers I believe would be for cleaning something of hard metal like drill bits or another hard object.
A commonly used part that gets dirty often.
Used in the garage for electronic parts like a spark plugs.
Since it is two pieces the bottom is removed to clean whatever came off the object.
Does it demagnetize?
Are we getting closer?

Re: Steinie's U3DA Game "What is it?"
you are onto something for sure.. very close. But you dont usually need to poke drills into copper shavings. Its something else.
It does not have anything to do with magnetism.
It could be used during a car fixing... and also for fixing other things. Its just a support thing for the main thing. As you said, for cleaning during the operation.
PS: it does not need to be a ball, the shapes vary.

It supports something. Why copper? Maybe the supported thing is hot. The rest of it is probably plastic though. The supported thing probably doesn't fit tightly in the hole unless these things are made for specific tiems.

Re: Steinie's U3DA Game "What is it?"
My thought. The opening is not on top, but at an angle of about 45 degrees, and the copper scraps are not piled horizontally, but get higher the further back, probably because it would be difficult to put something in vertically.
The role of copper other than magnetism is to transfer electricity (conductivity) or heat (thermal conductivity).
For electricity, for example, "static electricity removal" or "static electricity-based adsorbing or deodorization." However, since this item is not grounded, it cannot be expected to remove static electricity from car keys or engine parts, or to remove dust or chips with static electricity. Since rubber and metal are likely to be isolated, it does not seem possible to accumulate static electricity.
To release heat, for example, a "soldering iron stand" would be a candidate. However, that case does not seem to be able to withstand heat, and it seems that there are almost no situations in which soldering is required for car repairs in the first place. The narrow opening makes it difficult to use for placing "hot engine parts". "Paint" and "radiators" do not seem to be related either.
I give up.

Re: Steinie's U3DA Game "What is it?"
I will comment on that
- i said no magnetism already
- it can be placed vertically as other brands are more horizontal
- iam actually not sure about the material, it might be a metal or even some plastics are pretty heat resistant
- soldering IS used to fix a car as there are lots of wires and electronics in a car (even old cars)
I think you guys are pretty close to the solution

Re: Steinie's U3DA Game "What is it?"
It doesn't look like it would grip anything firmly like a vice or clamp. So I think you don't work on the held or supported thing while it is in there. It could hold something while you paint it.
It isn't just a container. A box or jar could do that. It doesn't simply hold something up. A jack, brick, or piece of wood could do that.
It is important that there are rubber feet on the bottom. That the stuff inside is copper is probably important. Unless it could be another substance.
Maybe more than one of these are used on one job. Maybe different types.
We are thinking of use a garage or workshop. It could be for organization like on a desk. It could hold pencils or paint brushes. It could be used in a kitchen. Maybe it holds toothbrushes.

Re: Steinie's U3DA Game "What is it?"
it can in theory hold pencils or toothbrush, but those copper shavings would scratch it up pretty good i think :)
Seems like you are overthinking it now.

Re: Steinie's U3DA Game "What is it?"
I will take a wild guess since it is used in a garage.
A place to hold a welding torch?
