my first serious character modeling

Post by bitkar »

hey, i tried seriously to make a first 3d face. Long time ago I only did one try, nothing serious. Iam not sure if I made man or woman. What do you thing it should be? :)
I used some reference images just for proportions (female) but didnt stick exactly with it, coz i wanted to make something slightly diferent, just my own face design. I tell you its kind a wierd to model a face, I feel like god making his first human :D You make a 3d model and it looks like its looking at you :)) ehm.. just joking a little.

btw: nice article/tutorial about realistic face modeling. Good advises there.

To me your face model looks female. If you would like feedback a wire
rendering would help us find problem areas. From what I see your model
looks great.
I bet you didn't do ears yet... :bananadevil:

The link you shared with us on face modeling is awesome!
Thanks!

That's awesome for a first effort! Let's see a wire frame.

Great link! Thanks.

thanks.. here is the wireframe, not the best, but it works :)
btw: I already tried to import it to tS facial animator plugin and its awesome - prediction of which point is where and in final it really works well with the gestures! i was amazed and well surprised. really wort using it. Originally i wanted to try the multimorph plugin for it.
to be "honest" its for one work project not for my fun only. Iam not sure if it can be woman :) but nevermind :D if I will make her nice... ;)
currently iam finishing mouth and will make some ears maybe (if she will not have some cap :)

btw: the hardest part is to fit the eyeball in :) iam not sure, maybe i have the eyeball too big, but it looks ok so far. I will have a more serious try next time. Iam gonna make some better head from scratch in future.

so here it is... the SDS control mesh (with nonSDS eye):

Yes trying to fit eyeballs are certainly a unique experience, mine usually end up overlapping one another which would probably be uncomfortable. I'd say you're doing quite well

Cor, trying to type that phrase innocently was a grammatical minefield

Very good work Bitkar. You have a real sense for proportions. The head seems to be very natural. Are you studying arts in some way?

nope. I study things on my own only. I started with CG in 1998. References helped with proportions alot. Some months back I tried to 2D paint a face, so this also helped a little, coz I gathered some info about face proportions (like eyes are almost in the middle of head, etc). But 2d painting was only a try and nothing serious came up from it. 3D is much better for me, for such complicated things.
iam glad you like it.
