Forum Software Update

The forums have been backed up and now the software will be updated to the latest version...

Update failed, that was a mess.
First I had a bad software download and then I found that the php version was not updated for the forums. Then I got database errors when trying to install the update.

The original forum software has been restored and php version has been set back to the old version. The last database error disappeared after reverting the php version.

I'll try again another day.

Issues:
forum is running old php version with a deprecation warning
may need a new database to work with the new php version?

The plan:
First step will be update the forum software then update the php server version and fix issues that show up.
