File STL import export with TS

Post by horsy »

Good morning,
On this forum I saw that a lot of people have problems with STL type files.
I use the TS 6.6 version happily for quite a few years.
I currently use it to create compatible STL files for my 3D prints.
Version 6 base doesn't allow importing STL files, but going through the TS6ConcPack.exe file, it works.
The only big issue is that when importing, the dimensions of the object change.
The largest dimension (be it length, width or height) will be set to 8.000 (why, I don't know).
So you have to know the basic dimensions of the object before you can scale it and manipulate it.
If you can't find this .exe file on the net, I can try to send it to you, it's about 7GB.

On TS 7 it's ok
On TS6, it doesn't work with the basic program. For saving, it's fine, but it doesn't support stl import.
For saving in .stl, it's fine, but it doesn't support .stl import. (despite the import button, which is theoretically possible).
On my version, this didn't work, which is why I used the little conversion program.

Horsy, you should give a detailed explanation of where the conversion program came from, who wrote it, why was it made, etc. and especially why can't it be found on the internet.

Why should you do that? Because this looks so much like a scam or attempt to distribute malware. It can't be found on the internet but you will provide it and it is a .exe? You've posted a couple of times before and seem legit. So post information to assure people that this is not a scam so they can use the program with confidence that it is not malicious.

Hello,
TS6ConvPack is a program I've been using for ... a long time. It dates back to 2007. Theoretically signed by Caligari.
I also did some research on the net, but I couldn't find any trace of this one.
All tests made with antivirus, anti-malware and others are negative.
I'm running Win64 and it works without a hitch.
I don't know more about its origin. I can send it to you for testing and autopsy.

Caligari's Conversion Pack 2 for TrueSpace adds the ability to import or
export scene and objects to some professionals file formats directly from
TrueSpace 6.5.

Supported formats are:

- IGES and SAT
- ViewPoint
- DWG
- STL
- ShockWave
