The important thing is to have fun.

Can we still use an old software?
Here is an example modeled and rendered with the modelside (old trueSpace).
Starting from nothing and without plugin.

Superbe image Marcel :o, you use trueSpace under what OS ?, because on my Win10, trueSpace modelside have some glitches with the blue cage selection (disapear) and sometime the screen freeze in the 3D view, it's impossible to make something in trueSpace for my case , i have these bugs since i got Win 10.

it works well on Windows 10.
Some problems of screen refresh in edition mode (I double click on the tab button to solve the problem. The simplest way).
The size of the windows supported by Direct X is limited but no limitation with Open GL.
Here is a wire OpenGL.

ok ok... without plugins... and without post processing too?

can you describe how its made? the bird is not only a bump map. The bricks are wireframe model i guess. The ivy is modeled manually aswell? I like the water, looks natural. What is the polycount of the scene?
(i had this part already written before you put the wireframe screen here)

Very nice, as usually, nice to see you back in action :)

PS: I run tS7.61 on win10 also. No problems, You just need to limit your view in DX mode (i pulled the right side pannel a bit more) I think max width of the DX viewport is about 2000 px.

No post processing. Only a little contrast.
Entire scene is 130k polys (most for the ivy).
The eagle is only 2400 polys (with sds for the render)

There is nothing in the scene where a software like Truespace would struggle! So why shouldnt Truespace be able to render that!
Truespace struggles where the polycount is over 400000 polys! There it starts to have difficulty!
Truespace is a good modeler.. there are tons of materials.. you have hdri lighting.....!
So no.. it can be done!
the different pieces of software can do things at a different speed to get to the modeled results!
If Tuespace had internal better support of instancing we could do a lot more! A good workaround is polytrans! You can use instancing outside and reload into Ts via SCN file keeping instances intact!
Ps: The eagle can be done with bump.. if you use old plugin TS extrude which was used for landscapes.. but can also be done without plugs..

There is a beauty using software and it's limits.

Good work Marcel. I really love the models. Your hand poly modeling is superb.

@Rayman :
The eagles are not only for this pictures. I use it for the fun but they was made for a real project of cognac bottle.
I needed a real and clean 3d with some control. Extrude from a picture was not good for this kind of volume (for a terrain, a letter or a texture is ok) and it is a creation, not a copy of a photo. Here i did exactly what a customer want for 3d printing, easy to change a detail if the customer need different solution. I like sds for that : it is between polys and curve and pleasant to do.
Ps :for a displacement mapping i prefer to use Bryce than TsExtruder and export a cob or obj.

Thank all for your comment.
Have fun to create with all the softwares you like to use.
As i said : it is the most important thing.
