it doesn't completly log my in either. Chrome browser remembers my name and password but it doesn't finish logging me in unless I click on logon and also check the box for remember me.
See attached image. I get that blue screen useing this short cut link: http://united3dartists.com/forum/. This takes me to a blue logon scheme as shown on the attached image: I then must
click remember me and click on Login.
If I used this saved short cut :
"http://united3dartists.com/forum/in ... df3290a6cb ",
then I am logged in as desired. This shortcut was copied and saved after I completed teh logon from the one above that does not completely login me in.

Re: Website and Forums Progress Report
That was a great idea.
Re: Website and Forums Progress Report
Not really a good idea as new people won't join forum. Put the attachments at least back under members only.

Re: Website and Forums Progress Report
Wish it wasn't so but there aren't going to be many new members who really participate.
I like checking on the forum and seeing images without logging in. It is convenient for me.
How to attract new members?
- Strategy A: Gain members by requiring visitors to join to see images.
This seems focused on quantity rather than quality of members. People who join just to see pictures aren't going to be real participating members. They will look and leave. That is the same as look-n-leave with visitor visible images except it leaves clutter of non-participating members. Didn't y'all clean out a ton of inactive "members" some time ago?
- Strategy B: Gain new members by showing interesting content (images, text, possibly downloads) to everyone. Quality focused. IMO, those who do join would be people intent on participating rather than passers-by who just want to look. The "visible to all" images would be seen in search engines. That exposure could increase traffic here and put more people in that small percentage that would join to become real members. A bad effect is it makes downloading and using our images without permission easy. Some members might not want that.
Magic images
If our images have such recruiting power that people who join to see them are encouraged to become real participating members then why not show those images to as many as possible?
Members only
What I would like to see banned from membership is the search bots and other bots. If some stuff (thread, images, whatever) is members only then the bots have no business seeing it.
Members should have abilities to make their content members only. They might not want all their content visible to all. The ability to mark a thread or post as members only when creating it would be good. Members only section would serve this purpose too.
It would also be good if members could mark images as non-downloadable and the easy ways of downloading wouldn't work.
Stan has a point about attachments. Resources like scripts/plugins, models, etc. might not be intended for just everyone to get. Members only options such as above would handle that.

Re: Website and Forums Progress Report
I would vouch for more openness... have anyone download or view at anytime. There isn't much to hide or keep a privalage - and really trueSpace being open and whatever in the forums also will just promote what I like about the software and unitedness - friendliness and easy access to everything.
But yeah, if it could be toggled private is good. Like a "contains nudity" tag.
Anyway, good work on the forums again Clinton and all others who did it all. I do miss being here more often...

Re: Website and Forums Progress Report
It's not possible to separate the attachments from the images because they are one and the same setting in the board. It should be possible to setup a members only section and restrict guests there, but I personally wouldn't have any interest in it.
