I make this little rendering test of a sphere that emit light, following the Susan Lee tutorial,
I wonder if it's possible to keep the light emission but without the sphere object ?

Re: Object that emiit light ( lightworks )
I didn't like the TS/Lightworks light emitting material. If the light was bright enough to light the scene then the object would be total pure white. I found no solution to that.
In Daz Studio/3Delight light emitting materials don't change the appearance of the object. The light shines from it into the scene and you adjust the material ambient setting to make the object itself look as bright or dim as you want independent of the brightness of the emitted light. I haven't tried it with transparent or translucent objects.

These spheres have material light. No other light added on the scene.
Lightworks render on model side.

Re: Object that emiit light ( lightworks )
Marcel can you make only the lights emit visible from your spheres but without the spheres mesh appear in the final render ?
It's what i try to do in my render test like defaults lights in trueSpace you can see them when you setup your scene it's normal but in the final render gizmo lights is not render, i want to keep only objects that receive the light and shadows by the sphere using the material light activated maybe it's better to use true lights gizmos of trueSpace.

Marcel, are there spheres inside of spheres there? Could you show the material/light settings?
Cellulo, if you find no way to make the object invisible but keep the light from it you could use an array of point lights with mapped soft shadows. Arrange the lights to simulate the shape of the object.

Easy : just set the transparency to 100% in the Material EditorCellulo wrote:Marcel can you make only the lights emit visible from your spheres but without the spheres mesh appear in the final render ?
The light is there, but since the object is transparent it is invisible !

That is right Emmanuel. The best way is to have a transparent object then duplicate this object without material light and the shader you want.
This shader is also useful to create special effect like this :

Merci Emmannuel, Marcel and Finis, it's what i want to see in my render, i like the shadow made by the light, i think this technique can be a tip for futur users.

btw i remember yafaray was excellent in objects emitting light... that worked absolutely perfect. but its workspace side renderer.
