My latest VP Pinball game...

Post by scapino »

Stienie reminded me that I havn't posted recently about my work with trueSpace in creating Visual Pinball tables.

I just finished up a re-work of my Flash Gordon table.

I completly model the table in TS (on the model side), and render a set of images with the lightworks renderer, that I use to cut out emreel images (like sprites) that I use to animate the lights and other things on the Visual Pinbal table, which is playable.

Here is a screen shot of the finished table....

And heres a wireframe shot...

That's neat. 8-) I had to look up "Visual Pinball table" to find out what it was. How do you get your stuff out of truespace and into the game?

I render master images in TS, combine them in Photoshop, and create emreel images, which are like sprites in Visual Pinball. I put these emreel images on the backglass in Visual pinball, so they cover the actual Physical table. The only VP things that show trough are the ball and the flippers. I use code in the Visual Pinball table to animate the emreel images (flipping through frames).

All the emreel images I make from the original TS renders are jpgs, imported into VP as images, and assigned to emreel objects.

I collect all the images I can, and clean up those that are good eunough to be used, and re-draw those that aren't.
