Rendering Animated GIF's using Truespace 3D

Post by BNG »

Article on how to make animated GIF's with Truespace and GIMP 2. For the longest time I've wanted to make animated Avatars, but only recently did I discover the power in TS to render an animation using the TS FLC render format and GIMP 2 to import and convert the FLC file as an animated GIF. The process is fairly simple and any TS animated model can be used to create neat little animated rendering of my favorite TS models. The render size is variable, but he larger the size so to the file size itself. Modelers can attach the render to post to show off their TS models too. :worship: Long live Truespace and the people that love modeling with it.

Cool!

Anyone who has Paint Shop Pro: Animation Shop came with it. It can make gifs from movies in several formats. Version 7 had it. I'm not sure about later versions.

You could also render an animation as .png or .jpg images, then import all of them into the Gimp as separate layers and then export as an animated .gif file. You can tweak some settings in Gimp so the colors look better.

Here is a simple animation I made using this method:

Actually, if you simply want to export to .gif, you just need to import all rendered frames into the Gimp (you can do so by dragging all files in a folder onto an existing image). Then just save it as a gif file, select animated gif in the export window and you're done.
I also made a tutorial a while back explaining how to do this on my website: http://vitriol3d.weebly.com/gimp-tutori ... -gimp.html

I hope it helps :)
