It might could, howerver the actual toy does not have one, and most importantly I am not good with effects like that.

Ok I need some feed back here guys. I am tring to spice up the lighting abit. Now what I have at the moment is a HDRI with a spotlight for the light comming in the window. I like the effect I am getting, but I can't see to get the shadows for the window to be soft like the HDRI light is. I have it set to map, and I have the circle spread out all the way. I know there is a way to make it softer I am just not sure how.

I have some work on the window sill and a image in the window. So focus the on the light.

Hi RJeff,

Try turning off transparent shadows. I don't know what to do if you need glass in the window.

Mapped shadows:
Raise map size number to remove banding.
Lower sharpness number to remove banding in soft shadow areas and keep the shadow from being wider than the object.
Raise quality number to smooth soft shadow areas.

i like the last one... and about the lighting - you are going a good direction for sure... I think a big contrast shine and a little of bloom effect would look very good. Dont be affraid to make the contrast.

rjeff, this is awesome. The modeling is great and the lighting looks great too.

Is the HDRI light representing just the natural light within the room or that another distinct light source? The only reason I ask is it looks like the shadow going to the left off the toy cube "A" is darker than the shadow caused by the direct light source coming through the window off the toy cube "Y".

This really is excellent work!!!

Thanks guys. The HDRI is used to represent the light in the room. I am using a spotlight to represent the light in the window.

very nice indeed... which version of trueSpace are you using rjeff? I'm VERY frustrated with my 7.61b because it crashes regularly, even when I'm not even doing very complicated stuff or booleans :(
