Update: Clintonman's trueSpace Indigo exporter supports 2.x

Post by First Light »

Greetings,

This is just a temporary "heads up" post about the Workspace Side trueSpace exporter for the Indigo renderer. Clintonman announced yesterday at the Caligari forum that he has updated it so that it now works with the latest version of the commercial renderer (version 2.0.12). In addition, it is still compatible with earlier 1.x versions going back to 1.0.9.

You can download clintonman's exporter free from his post at the Caligari forum. (Expect a future post in this forum direct from clintonman with the download also.) The exporter is primarily a script but it also uses a plugin to read D3D materials.

Indigo is a commercial renderer that costs 295 Euros---about $422 U.S. dollars at today's (22-Aug-09) exchange rate (see exhangerate.com for a current amount). According to the Indigo website, this is half price and is only available for a limited time.

Tip: Indigo used to make older versions of their renderer available for free and, even though they no longer advertise it, you can still find links to the older 1.x renderers in their forums. For example, this link will take you to a post that provides links for you to download Indigo 1.1.18 for free. We don't know how long these links will work so you might want to get it soon while you can.

Thanks clintonman for keeping the Indigo renderer a viable option for trueSpace users!!!! :bananacheers:

Best regards, First Light

Another update for the Indigo exporter.

What's new:

add bumpmap to create 2 new indigo phong and diffuse texture materials
fixed a bug in material name search
will now use more than 1 area light
use indigo materials downloaded from the indigo materials database
custom resolution option in drop down, set resX and resY in render options aspect
changed texture gamma's to 2.2
increased the brightness of lights and meshlights by 10
added support for exit portals - windows into an interior scene

You can get it here:

http://www.clintons3d.com/plugins/trues ... index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'll create a tutorial in the near future.

You can also use indigo 2 for free, with the restriction of 0.7 megapixel size limit, and a watermark. It's cool that this plugin is still being developed - I haven't really given indigo much notice, but the gallery looks quite good so I might have to give this a crack........so many truespace renderering options, so little time......

Did another update. The IME node name node was missing and I added a sample scene. All light intensities have been boosted so they work better together. The demo scene uses the skylight environment. One tricky part about the demo scene is that the textures have to be reloaded for your system since they use absolute paths. This detail makes it more difficult to share indigo based scenes. If anyone has any suggestions on saving a workspace scene with relative paths to external files, let me know.

Another update for Indigo script.

Scene based environment node which includes controls for light power
Implemented a check of texture and igm file paths
Fixed the camera to use any aspect ratio render
Fixed: Ambient light causes script crash
Exit portals more reliable.

Video tutorials for setting up and using the exporter.

Edit: Paul Ashington found a bug in the script. A download for just the (fixed)button installer is online.
