Mitsuba Render - Free

Post by Prodigy »

Ok guys i found this great render engine with GI.. the workflow with truespace is very simple and support realtime rendering.

Workflow for truespace:

Make a scene
add a camera
Select all your objects included the camera
Save your scene as DAE, pick export camera and geometry
thenk load Mitsuba, import your new dae file and that's all.. Render..

this is my first test, not bad and worth a try.. Rendering time 1 minute, there's a lot settings, also my vga doesn't support opencl so maybe others can get more benefit from better computers..

Lighting set up in TS or Mitsuba?

Ok from my tests..

some Ts lights are supported but not all but i'm sure with a simple script can be solved...

Spot, Directional Lights and Omni Lights are supported..

Arealights not.

Color material, uv and textures are exported but not the shader.

not bad not bad :)

LOL Froo! :)

there's a setting to change that.. by default is set on 4, if you set on 50 you can clean your house but will take more than 2 minutes ;)

I think it's a excellent choice for users without vray and that use workspace side.. the collada exporter is quite fast and the conversion to mitsuba is also fast..

1 problem is that seams that mitsuba reads the collada file inverted, is like all the scene is fliped but you can fix that problem in any image sotware, just flip and that's all..

In my case that i have no cuda or openCL vga i can't see the preview scene but check this videos..

That's a Collada limitation. It only supports spot, directional, omni and ambient lights.

I like the looks of this renderer.

I am wondering if camera animationg in collada files are saved.. If you can do some basic animated render sequences.
