Since there were no entries the first person to post here that he wants to run the next challenge takes over as if he was the winner of this one.

So who wants to run the next challenge? With no entries in the Framing challenge there can be no winner to run the next one. Instead, the first person to post here that you want it becomes Challenge Super Being for the next one.

I have an idea for the challenges.......wouldnt it be better to not have a fixed deadline but..... as soon as a a contest reaches 6-8 entries.. whenever that is it goes up for voting.... ????? I think the no entries and one or two entries thing doesnt make it challenging enough anymore... just my 2 Cents... ??????

I actually like that idea.. because I start projects for them, conceptualize them, get the pipeline all thought up and ready to do - then I have to complete real world deadlines before the project for the contest.. then WHAM, the contest is over... they appear more like work deadlines than pleasure! Because some of the ideas I could not even compete in were great and I just wish I could do them in the lull times between real-life projects..

Re: Challenge - Farming - September/October 2016
Low activity in the forum is the main problem. Few people are here to do independent projects or challenges or anything else. Participation has been declining for long time and the recent trouble didn't help. Anyway, Rayman's idea may work better than the old way now that low participation is normal.
Possible problems with the proposed method: Challenges could drag on for too long without enough entries. Especially if the topic is unpopular. If the quota to end a challenge is, for example, six entries then only the six fastest contestants (much free time, less ambitious entries, good speed modelers) could be in the poll and others would be cut off. Fewer than six, even just one, if some quickly made more than one entry. That would make all challenges a race just to get into the poll so speed modelers/simple projects would always dominate. It would discourage ambitious projects and frustrate those who were excluded for working slowly. The unpredictable "deadline" would be more frustrating than a known one.
Maybe having contestants declare that they are entering a challenge? A challenge would end when all declared contestants have finished their entries. Contestants would be expected to voluntarily drop out or simplify their entries if they are not able to finish in a reasonable time. Problems: Challenges could go on forever with new contestants "declaring". There could still be challenges with few entries but no one would be cut off by deadlines.
Combine Rayman's idea and declared contestants? A challenge would end when at least the required number of entries were present and all declared contestants have finished their entries. If there aren't enough and no new contestants appear then the CSB would declare the challenge over and start the poll.
The Challenge Super Being, winner, can make his own rules not just the theme. Someone say you want to run the next challenge, take over, and make the rules.

Re: Challenge - Farming - September/October 2016
well actually we are busy in 3d.....just earning money with
it and most of the time cant post because its clients property....Im working on a character that is actually a doll....a bear thats dressed up as Mozart and is a mascot
of a resturant chain....! Rigged in Blender and snimated and rendered in Vue Inf.!
Apart from that Im building a Car..which is partly my own project based on a Fiero Gt...!
I also design modding parts for RR cars...and no longer available spares for oldtimers...many of these layed in Carbon... so not slow at all!
For the contest..well very simple...when we would get to 6 we
fix the deadline ie after a weeks time...
If we dont get entries after 8 weeks we could then go to a new topic.....well that a suggestion.....any ideas????

As someone who hasn't entered challenges since the caligari days. I'm just wondering would it not be easier to make it a quarterly thing with no concept except that it be done in a 3d software of your choosing. Then if a person was not finished on time they could enter it in the next quarter. There might be more entries that way.
