Alien Abduction

Post by clintonman »

This was definitely a challenge. From the 3DBuzz Alien Abduction lesson for Maya.
Lessons were used to test various scripts: the ramp image generator used in the alien eye and the beach ball. D3D Glow effects for the engine and animated deformations.

Thanks, the 3dbuzz guys did an awesome job choosing a subject/story for the lesson.

Me likes it too!
Some comical (Jetsons) sounds would put it over the top!

Turned out quite fun. I like the bloom effects. Rendered with the D3D viewport right? The UFO flying animation was pretty good, convincing. I am starting to see the lack of bounced light with D3D or SSAO sorely aging, but it does have that retro 3D look to it, which is pretty cool on the other hand. Like Toy Story 1.

What comes next!?

Yep, D3D render.
Next is project 3 from the Maya Fundamentals course, already started.

Now that you mention it I forgot about your "False Ambient Occlusion" thread. Maybe I'll try something like that for the next project render.
