Many of you might not know the history of Lamborghini!
Ferrucio Lamborghini was a farmer...wine expert and producer tractor producer and Ferrari car owner! One of his best friends was Enzo Ferrari!
Ferrucio Lamborghini had a 250 GTO and had problems with the clutch of his car! Well he went to Enzo to complain about his problems with the clutch on his Ferrari and Enzo belittled him and said to him..what do you know about cars! You are a farmer..not a car mechanic! You might know something about slow tractors but nothing about fast sports cars!
That made Ferrucio Lamborghini so furious that he started right out of the Ferrari factory..back home..both not far away from Modena and took out the smallest tractor clutch he had and put it right into his Ferrari! Long story short ..no more problem with the clutch anymore! But Enzo and Ferrucio were no longer friends!
So in order to make Enzo angry he decided to build sports cars..and to show Enzo that he could make much better cars then him! The first Lamborghini prototype was born! The first series Lambo the 350 became quite a big success...! But that wasnt enough for Ferrucio! He wanted to build the fastest sporst car there was in the world..and he wanted it to be totaly new a mid motor engined one! In 1965 at the Geneva show he displayed a working chassis of a car..that started the super car era..the Lamborghini Miura! Much lighter...and a lot faster then the Ferraris! The design was outsourced to Bertone! Ghandini was the one to design it! The same guy who later designed cars like the famous Countach! He looked into motor sports..and he took the Ford GT 40 as the sampler! Very well accepted car at Le Mans racing! In 1966 end of May he had his first prototype finished and howld it to Monaco where the Ferraris were racing! He placed it right into the Loews curb...yes to make Enzo realy angry!
He succeeded! That was the beginning of Ferrari vs Lamborghi !
