Very cool idea Finis... (Very smart too)
"Pick anything from the Idea List". Many great ideas, but I kept returning to the first one; 'in the style of your favorite artist'.
My list of favorites: (hmm, never posted this before)
Rembrandt... DaVinci, Frazetta, Sorolla, Alma-Tadema, Vallejo, come to mind.
I think I will pick something from Frank Frazetta. mmm... I think I know which one too. Though it won't be an original idea (he used Acrilic paints I think), i will try to recreate the character from his painting 'Deathdealer' in 3D.
I doubt I will finish it in time but this I feel is going to be a rough month for me so a lil diversion using art will help.

Re: Challenge Aug 2018_Artist X
** Frazetta used oils, Boris Vallejo used acrylics. I think I got it right now.
So um, I am chewing heavily, (bit off more than I can chew right now)
Here's the first round; blocking in the objects. Decided to go with a straight sculpt hopefully getting more finished before time's up. Will see how that turns out.

Good start. The style is really cool. Great project!

Thanks Draise.
No idea how I should finish it. Texture paint, digital paint using the original angle of the pic? The background a flat plane? Still working all that out.
Just seeing all the little pieces that I need is daunting. Hadn't thought it out.
Doing it all as one sculpt, I think will be too many polys for Blender.
To be continued...
btw Am I sticking to my chosen pick, as the suggestion? Or am I mis-interpreting it? Any comments?

Part digital matte painting is a good idea. You'd preserve the original style even better.
Re: Challenge Aug 2018_Artist X
So here's a shot of what I was able to get to.
Was starting from the front (Horse head). Didn't realize how many parts i had to make.
** PS: Frazetta used oils.
