Finis - U3DAC - Jan. 2016 Star Wars

A WIP for my January 2016 challenge entry.

At first I thought of a Lightmace. This would be on a stick like the ball on a mace. Maybe one on both ends of a shaft. Then I thought it would fly like the training laser ball and be controlled mentally through tech or by using the force.

I think the sabers should be longer. Its size and saber length will depend on what it is. The guard or shield dodecahedron is to protect the the saber generators from attack. I think the shield would not be effective vs. other lightsaber weapons or blasters but it adds style and detail.

I like the purple sabers but the red works better for the bloom filter. Since the high bloom level gives a dreamy effect to the whole picture I'll probably add glows post process.

What are your suggestions or ideas?
- What is it and how is it used?
- How big is it and how long should the sabers be?
- Where should there be greebles like pictures tmp and tmp2 or none like tmp3?
- Should it have the guard or shield part?
- Any other ideas or suggestions?

Han shot first!

As they say, larger is better no?

Great concept!

Liking the details.

Hmm, does look like ... nevermind :bananadevil:

Modeling in Hexagon. Render in Iray via Daz. These are straight from Iray. The finished ones will get post processing for clarity.

Cleaned up some bad geometry and attempted to connect the inner ball to the guard or shield. Connections that looked good were too difficult so the guard will float around the inner ball.

Here, a Jedi controls it by using the Force. No Daz figures in the entry image of course. I might make a Star Wars style landscape in Bryce for the scene.

Here are some funny lightsabers link.

Thanks!

This one turned out great! It just happened when I threw my saber ball, a Bryce terrain, and a Daz character into a scene. Now I want to make a creature to be the Jedi.

Let's have some competition! You all do entries. C'mon, everyone likes Star Wars!

Here is the Crusher or Scorb Beast. He stomps with his large heavy feet and uses his three big teeth to crush opponents. I think it should be massive and simple in its basic shapes with some bumps. Maybe smaller skin details with bump or displacement maps.

Do yo have suggestions for his head or upper part? Should his feet have features like elephant toenails or armor sections?

I might try to rig it in Daz.

Now the Scorb Beast has bumps on his head. Should it have eyes or what? What senses does it have? Any ideas for the creature? In these pictures the texture is simple so the teeth are the same as the rest.

Still working on UV and texture. What do think of his eye? Should he have eyes or what? I'm going to give him holes or nostrils for breathing. Where should they be?

Hexagon modeling. Bryce terrain. Scene and Iray render in Daz.

Here's how to paint textures and save them in Hexagon https://vimeo.com/5541435. They key part to saving them is at 3:25 in the video. You have to pick one of the texture size x size selections for the material. Then export as obj and there will be a texture image.

I like the one eye. It could also have 3 eyes to match the leg count, but I like the number one.
