Vortexe Spaceplane Work-In-Progress

Post by MikomDude »

I got the idea for this plane from reading about the Skylon project and those supersonic jet concepts that seem to be all the rage nowadays. I just love those concepts and here's my take on it.
Thrusters built on a similar principle to the SABRE engines on Skylon.

Nice! Do the engines need air intakes or are they rockets? I'd leave it without intakes because the design looks great as is.

Can I get one of these with VTOL so I can land it on the converted aircraft carrier I call my yacht? (Finds a billion dollars between the couch cushions.) Make that two, can I get two?

I like the U.S.S. Revolt too.

The engines are a hybrid like the SABRE engine so it will have air intakes as well but my first idea was to have them come out of the hull kind of like flip-up headlights. That part is also still very much a work-in-progress.

If you want a cool VTOL/STOL concept then check out the Sky Whale concept:

I love this design. I want to marry it and have its tiny space ship babies but I digress... you said something about a private aircraft carrier? :P

Here's what little progress that I've made thus far. I probably won't have a lot of time to work on it in the near future. I've got a commission for another spaceship that I've got to get done this weekend.
