Finis,
You could almost post the black and white rendering for the contest because it is so cool!
After checking out all the entries I have a feeling mine should be renamed "Compost"...(horse manure)
Good job guys!!!

Thanks Steinie! I like yours. It is floral but also abstract. Draise's has the hand drawn appeal. Mikom's has the concept and characters.

I agree, the black and white one is MORE than good enough as is! Beautiful, the DOF and the flowers are all very very very great.

Thanks.

I thought I would continue this project in Blender but since I haven't started learning it, have little free time now, and it will probably take a while to be able to do anything in Blender, I'll finish this with my current tools.

I plan to get some leaves and petals from these plants around town and scan them for textures. Then fix modeling problems. I probably won't individualize the bloom copies or model the shriveling of the redder older blooms. Maybe some displacement can do that.

These flowers are blooming around town now. I'll get samples and photos for reference and scan petals for textures.

I was going to avoid using CG programs other than Blender until I was competent with it but I'll go back the the Daz programs to finish this one. Then it's all Blender during the learning curve. Then Blender as my main thing plus whatever gets the job done.

I got samples of the flowers and leaves and scanned them for textures. It will be a while before I can work on CG again but I am eager to finish this one.
