Post by TransKim » 12 Jun 2010, 13:24

Hullo,

am having problems with lighting setup. i created this image in TS 7.61 modeler side but i seem to have problems
with lighting my candle. I want to use only the candle lighting for the rest of the images.any one with a clue

at first, you need to model a flame (dissable shadowcasting and recieving).. then posision one or more point lights there (maybe one with shadows off or place there an IBL for the whole scene). Set material for the candle - translucent plastic shader, or if vray - subsurf. scattering.

that should be it. You need the knowledge of lights in tS (types, look, etc.) and experience for this.

My suggestion would be to use a single local light placed at the point of the wick of the candle.

Then adjust the strength of the light to see how this lights up your scene....

You may want to consider using 2 or 3 lights at slightly different positions with some variation in colours to give the appearance of softer shadows.

Good hunting.

Hi bitkar,

I have no ideas on lighting can you please give me the details of what you mean with "dissable shadowcasting and recieving" and "posision one or more point lights there (maybe one with shadows off or place there an IBL for the whole scene)".

Thanks.

Transkim, please watch the training videos on the caligari site and read the manual on the subject of lighting.

We can try to help you decide what techniques will work best for a scene but retyping the manual here isn't really helping you.

If you have specific questions regarding material in the manual or videos please ask them.

The caligari training videos are here:

v3erd3 is right... we cannot teach you how to drive. We can show you the way.
