Final trueSpace 7.61 Beta 8 Unofficial Update

Post by trueBlue »

I have started to create a Final trueSpace 7.61 Beta 8 Unofficial Update.
Here is what I have so far:

trueSpace 7.61 Beta 8 Unofficial Update

Revisions:
July 06, 2009
February 21, 2010
November 01, 2012
May 16, 2018

This update is for the full version of trueSpace7.61 with Workspace, Model, and the Bridge.
Important: This Update should not be used with the tS7.61 Standalone version!

:: Layouts

4View, Default, Floating, Expanded, and trueSpace6
* These layouts have been fixed to prevent the Main toolbars from showing on the
Desktop when tS is Minimized by merging the bottom two Workspace toolbars together into one toolbar and docked with the Status panel.
* Removed the duplicated tSMainWnd nodes.
* Removed all of the RS...toolbar Frame Windows.
* Set the OwnedBy attribute for most of the toolbar's Frame Window which stops the toolbars from showing through newly opened Views.
* Included a UnofficialUpdateViewBar toolbar in the Default layout main window's titelbar.
* New - Updated the Default layouts with new WinIDs for the UnofficialUpdateViewBar & LENavigatorBar.

New Layouts

4View, Default, Floating, Expanded, trueSpace6, and Workspace
* New - All Layouts include the new WorkspaceMain2, Main2, UnofficialUpdateViewBar, and LENavigatorBar toolbars.
* New - WorkSpace layout with new expanded Horizontal toolbars.
Note: Both the Old and New layouts exist in the Library.

Presently the 'Layouts - Configurations' is being used which is the new layouts.
I discovered tS761 only works with one name, as in 'Layouts - Configurations'
To load the OLD layouts you have to rename them in the Library Browser.
1.) Rename 'Layouts - Configurations' to 'Layouts - ConfigurationsNEW'
2.) Rename 'Layouts - ConfigurationsOLD' to 'Layouts - Configurations'
3.) In Workspace, Select the Default layout tab.
Note: You can also tell the differences of the layouts by their icons in the Library Browser.

Nice update.

I would rather like the following toolbar arrangement as "essential toolbar", to room at the bottom of the stack view (in my setup, the axis tools are docked in the Object Tool icons like in the default setup)...

I sure could use your help Emmanuel! YOU are an awesome artist, trueSpace user.
I need more feed back. I really like being able to Normalize Location, Rotation, Scale and the Axis tools close to the Info panel. It makes it easy verses using the WorkspaceNav toolbar way over on the left side of the screen.
What you have not seen yet is what is going to be next to the Axis Tools. Like your toolbar, which I could include as an individual toolbar, the Delete, Copy, Undo, and Redo will be to the leftof the Axis Tools.
What I am not understanding is your use of the Views, X, Y, Z locks with the Info panel.

BTW: I just updated the post to include a new Material Editor.

I'm using the XYZ locks a lot. Probably a bad habit I got since tS4 :)
It's not easy to suggest a default toolbars configuration because we have all different uses of the software.
Among all Workspace tools, I mostly make use of the boolean tools (more reliable than Modeler one) and the polygonal toolset because of its point edit snaping. Clinton's new curve toolset is VERY promizing. Current workflow is not ideal yet (can't draw curve from scratch, etc.) but it will justify a new Unofficial Update once polished !

In the mega toolbar I would put the edge loop and face loop near the face, edge and point buttons. Now they are in the middle of the modify selection buttons. I guess technically select by material and select path should be moved as well since they make a selection instead of modifying a selection. Anyway just a thought separate selection from selection modifiers.

What does the Save Scene name do when you press it? Is it so have the actual scene name pre-populated instead of having to select the scene node whenever you want the actual scene name?
Idea: one thing I like about Maya is that you can have incremental saves. What it does is save the scene and at the same time in another folder it saves the file with a number. So it saves myscene and in a folder saves myscene001 and next time it save myscene and in the folder saves myscene002. We get something like it by saving to libraries but the base scene name changes.

Moving the axis tools near the info panel is a great idea. I also like having the XYZ buttons near there as well. The modified widgets have the XYZ button functions but it's not always easy remembering all the shortcuts.

For the material editor it may or may not make sense to have the uv tools and smoothing. They do affect the appearance but are not a part of the materials. You can have the same material with completely different smoothing effects.

Will there be room for the status line at the bottom?

I updated the PE selection toolbar and posted a screen shot in the first post.
The save scene name renames the scene node in System/Project/
Your idea sounds great, but I think it would be limlted to a designated Library folder?
Had a heck of a time with the Main2 toolbar, but it is a compromise with embedding it into the Stack. (See pic)
With the Material Editor, I was wanting to remove the redundant componets icons since they are included with the Material Editor's Library Place file system. That is why I put the UV tools there. Also bring them out of the WorkspaceNav toolbar to the right hand side of the interface. Any suggestions?
Here is the Desktop panel:
