Yeah, I like Bforartists quite a bit. Tiles is one of the biggest developers there, and he was an avid truespace user. I help out on the facebook fanpage and some development where I can.

Hmm, I like the use of icons, but Blender is pretty much Blender no matter how you customize it's UI.

Yeah, there are some things under the hood you can't change till the head devs do... like the apply to "Active over Selected" workflow everywhere, the Outliner shenanigans, the lack of Maya like Animation clips and layers... but for all the shortcomings of industry standards, you gain a lot with killer grease pencil, easy rigging and bendy bones, flexible modifier stack, integration of visual programming with node addons, sculpting, texture painting, video editor, and more...

BFA has all the same, and yes... more than just icons, it also changes the workflow to be a WER system, also Left click, also removes most if not all double menu entries so that the UI is less cluttered. Things are reorganized, cleaner, more streamlined. Also more than 100 hotkey only operators from Blender are now also menu entries that you can discover without a manual or the internet...

I prefer that to Blender.. to be honest. But yes, the pro's of Blender are still integrated - even compatible with BFA. Meaning.. cycles, and all future Blender features too.

Ah, I see, they changed hotkeys to be more standard.

It actually looks pretty good. I'll have to take a deeper look.

Remember when a user interface was a blinking cursor and shelf of manuals?

The solution to Blender's steep learning curve is work. If learning Blender, or any other difficult task, is what you need then work or fail.

CG is an endeavor that requires considerable technical aptitude. You need intelligence to learn, to think broadly, and to use resources to solve problems and achieve goals. You need the flexibility to adapt to new situations. CG can be a medium for artists and other creative individuals. The technical aspects of realizing a creation inspire some artists and discourage others. All of you have demonstrated the ability to create with CG. You have learned one or more CG programs and used them well. You can learn whatever new ones you choose.

The advantage of Blender is that it is free and powerful. The disadvantage is that it is difficult to learn at first and it lacks the UI, good design, and polish of a professionally crafted product. Of course those cost money. Once you climb the steep first part of Blender's learning curve it is not difficult any more. Then the fun, creativity, and ambition for CG projects returns.

If you want to use Blender then get to work learning it. If its initial challenge is too much for you then try other software.

All software has a learning curve ,Blender took me about a year and i still have not a clue how some of it works
but i get by with what i know and YouTube . one day it will have the profi ui they still perfect blender as much as they can .
and ill tell you one thing its a f,,,, sight quicker than Maya or max, that goes for modling and learning .
so many Maya users have noticed how much easier blender is ,of course it cant take Mayas place but it aint far off

Its a powerfull piece of kit! Its unnesessarily complicated! All it takes is to do things the more standard way... You get software that is very easy to learn! Greetings

Tried it out. The click and drag to box select is nice, but I am not a fan of not being able to move anything unless I hold down a hot key.
