Maybe some of you might be interested in this polygon modeler called Nvil (short term for anvil), formerly known as Void World. I happily toy around in it since a few days.
When this tool was called Void World the developer introduced it at Polycount before two years. And got some slaps from the artists for it. So he went on with developing, listening to the artists needs this time. And that leaded to some very nice evolutions. Nvil is aiming to replace Silo (which is unfortunately not longer developed since a pretty while). And it`s at a good track here.
Nvil is currently still in development. The bad thing with still being in development is that the documentation is a bit incomplete to say the least. There are no tutorials yet. You need to figure out most of the things by yourself (this one is not this hard fortuantely). And there are of course still bugs.
The good thing with that is that it is still free at the moment. Which will change when the tool goes productive (this one can happen very fast now. The webpage has gotten a revamp before a few days. And it is already stable enough for most needs) . And you can still make suggestions to the developer.
Here`s the webpage : http://voidworld.cmcproductions.co.uk/i ... d,2.0.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Newest beta versions can be found in the forums: http://voidworld.cmcproductions.co.uk/i ... d,2.0.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
And this thread at Polycount could also be useful : http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=74005" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Cool find. How easy is it to learn bro? I'll check it out myself.

It`s as with all modelers out there. No way to learn them in a few minutes. And the flavours and personal preferences are different too. Some like a software, some dislike a software. Best is to try by yourself.
But it`s in general relative easy to learn. Most stuff is pretty self explaining, thanks to the smart tip that pops up when you go above a 3d window. This smart tip provides you with the most common hotkeys. Some stuff is a bit hidden. And different named. Like the symmetry tool for the mirror modeler. I am always at hunting it again. You can also use a ring menu like in Silo, which pops up with the right mouse button. First load brings up a way to choose between maya and silo hotkeys. Press spacebar when you are above a 3D window with the mouse, and it will maximize, and back. What i love at NVil is that it is relative highly customizable. I am at toying around with the hotkeys at the moment to get a hotkey setup where i don`t need to hold down a key for navigation needs. Currently both available hotkey presets uses the alt key plus a mouse button for navigation.

I have look into it, the retopo tool is something, you just cut it with a knife then automatically create a spline around that mesh then just click those created spline and it will generate retopo
Re: Polygon Modeler NVil
Haven`t reached the chapter retopo yet. How do you?

Interesting find Tiles..... looks pretty robust.
The forums there also mention another "free" sculpting app CB Model Pro available here.... http://www.cbmodelpro.com/. I might check that one out as well.
Thanks

Retopo can be found in the scene explorer in case anyone missed it.
BTW: Retopo is disabled by default it needs turning on.
I should also add make sure Retopo is also selected in Visual Tools panel.
