dust3d.org
I just found it randomly in a Linux os store-app as a free 3D software and I gave it a go. It's... quite different from anything I've ever used. You 3D model on basically two axis using lines and nodes, the nodes detirmine thickness, and the lines the flow of the model.
Edit:
my 1st very poor attempt:
Has anyone tried Dust3D? Anyone tried Dust3D?

Re: Anyone tried Dust3D?
Saw this thread yesterday and gave it a whirl. Still need to watch the videos (obviously) but so far I think it's pretty neat. The .obj file loaded into trueSpace okay. For some reason I had to manually add file extensions, but otherwise had no problems.
