It is possible to make 2D animation in Modelside

Post by Cellulo »

I have see this animator's animation gallery http://cargocollective.com/San-oOo/Animationsalso there is some really good scripts animations but only for 3Dsmax, i'm wonder if it's possible to make this type of 2D animation in the Modelside maybe with MotionStudio.

EDIT: i found these methods on Blender 2.6 maybe it can be apply on the modelside.

I just completed about 2 minutes and a half of motion graphics and learnt how to do 2D rigging in Blender, and motion graphics. I had some characters. Basic stuff, but fun. In the end I stopped hating Blender UI, as I learnt how it worked, and actually enjoyed the workflow. The viewport AA is terrible, so I had to Box Blur in Virtual Dub to iron out the AA kinks, but it was nice.

I know trueSpace WS can do everything Blender can do for the 2D side of animation. It just requires a bit of learning how to create node based rigs and things. The bones are about the same bugginess as blenders, and well, if you make the rig right, you can create the same 2D system - and the viewport is faster and better than Blenders - so you get higher quality images. The only downside is no SSAO or realtime DOF.

Or you could just render like normal in Blender with freestyle or whatever.

I am sure you could make interesting rigs in the MS, but I find it a lot less flexible in it's rigging as the WS - you can't create rig UI's very easily, meanwhile in the LE of the WS, you can.

I think my next motion graphics project, I will try create them in trueSpace - return to my less stable software, and enjoy it. I just need to make some Motion Graphics text tools, in the LE - to help me to speed that workflow up.

You are right Draise we can't do complex 2D animation in MS but i have see that franck ladner make cool little animation with MotionStudio, in cut-out style animation, with patience and skill we can do cool 2D animation in MS and yes Blender can do this stuff easily without headache.

Some years ago i startet to create a animation in tS. The first sht from the story was already finsihed:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDN7_jkxmOs" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

made in tS with motion studio and (i believe) primal particles.

Together with MotionStudio really easy to do!
I still use TrueSpace 6.6
