I just created the design of a table tennis to be made in concrete.
The client is happy with the model and he is asking me to provide him with execution plans in 2d of the different parts of the table.
I can publish a plan to print at scan 1:1 in DraftSight, my AutoCad-like tool.
But how can I import truespace objects without triangulation ?
Any face I cut in trueSpace and export via dwg or dxf file format get triangulated and there is no tool to un-truangulate in DraftSight.
Any ideas someone ?
How to create 2d plans at scale 1:1 from a trueSpace model

I think the iges export will export without the triangles, but then you need something that will convert the igs file to a dwg file for Draftsight. Or export as obj and find a program that will read the obj and export a dwg.
Maybe you can use draftsight to manually trace the imported shapes via some vertex snapping function.

Thank you Clinton.
I found a solution using 3D Object Converter. It can load tS7.6 .COB file format and can export to a flat .DXF format using a special setting named "AutoCAD DXF [2D POLYLINE]", located among the export formats in the export dialog box.
The demo version removes every 5th polygon but it seems that limitation applies for 3D export only ; not 2D export
So I can get my objects into DraftSight as they appear in trueSpace ; the dimensions are even preserved.
The only limitation I found is about wholes in a shape : 3D Object Converter will not open a plane with a whole in it. So if you've got a rectangle with a round hole in it, you will make 2 objects in truespace : the rectangler plus the disc, glue them, then using your PolyCombiner plugin (ahh, I love this one Clinton !) make it a single object that can load into 3D Object Converter.
trueSpace rocks !

Check out my new mesh to curves plugin. It was inspired by this thread.

Thanks a lot for that new plugin Clinton !
I see I can now export curves in dwg with no triangulation from trueSpace
Your plugins kit plus all the existing tools are turning trueSpace into a complete designs authoring/development tool, from 3d sketch to execution plans drawings.
Using MeshSize tsx I can even calculate the weight of the different concrete parts and see how many people/arms will be required to handle and assemble the parts. The power of trueSpace never ends surprising me...

nice thread...
few yrs ago i tried to solve that. Solution was an stl export to proper CAD software (Solidworks) and remodeling according to that imported stl. Then you could do anything.
