I made the images below with Kerkythea. How do I use the depth mask image in Paint Shop Pro? I have PSP X3 and 7.

One way is to use the depth as a mask on a layer with bokeh blur, then overlay it onto the original. That is one way.
Blender in the composite nodes has one of the best zdepth calculations I've seen. I'd learn that.

Get your two images in the composite node editor (after you have enabled the nodes) then get a defocus node. Then plug the zdepth into the zdepth, tell it to use white values (a toggle) then up the blur amount and the value.... And... I'll do it fur you tomorrow.

Maybe video 7 and 8 can help. They were made for photoshop but the techniques should translate to psp.

Here you go, the Blender scene with the composite nodes, and well.... the setup I use to get my DOF stuff. I use two defocus nodes (one for background, and the other for foreground DOF). On the foreground I use a filter to simulate the same color bleed you'd get on close DOF. I also titivate things with a color ramp, really helps control your DOF.

It's pwwwweeeeety.
