Ok let's start the next SMC.

SMC 53: TELESCOPE

DEADLINE : Feb 6, 2010 (my Mother's Birthday :) )
VOTING: Feb. 9 - 2010 (my birthday :) )

RULES:
1) Use any 3D software you choose.
2) Create the model(s) within a 2 hour time limit. It will take you little time so... Participate!
3) You may enter as many times as you wish.
4) Your entry will also include a wireframe screen grab before SDS (subdivision) has been applied. This is included to help others learn modeling techniques.
5) Include time spent, software/version and render engine used with your submission.
6) Post one render per entry at 800 x 600 pixels.
7) Render, Lighting, and Texturing are not included within the 2 hour time limit.

Would be good create a comment thread and then delete my post and put Steinie's post there... If I encounter time, ie, finish other contests I'll surely join! I have a telescope.

Okay, I'm slow and my brain is fossilized. Forgot to do a wireframe before Sub-D and it took me about 2 hours 55 minutes. :(

Hey everyone, first time poster, long time TS user. I thought I'd introduce myself into this community by entering my own entry into this speed modeling challenge. :)

Spyglass Scene
Modeled and rendered in Truespace 7.6
Model Time(For all models in scene):47m
Texture Time: 2hrs
Render Time: 5s(no joke)
Post Effects: 5-10m

Time Modeling 2.5 Hours (Samuel Adams Beer caused a slowdown...)
Texture Time 1.5 Hours
Post Process 1.0 Hour
Rendered using VRay with GI
Render time 45minutes- 1 hour
Photoshop used to add background, signature and steam.
Hose Modeled with MOI
Telescope Modeled in workSpace
1 Beer, 1 Dr. Pepper and 1 Bag of Cheetos consumed.

Catadiopteric telescope with polarmount

Modeled in Moi 3d Beta version 2
Rendered in Vue inf 8
Modeltime 2 hours 20 minutes with part of the texturing ( you assign materialgroups while you model) net modeling about 2 hours.
Rest of the texturing 20 minutes.
setup of scene 1 hour.
rendertime 4 hours for 1200 x 1600 px at ultra setting (downresed to 600x800 in Photoshop)
postpro in Photoshop..... 10 minutes
