Restore a missing icon in Workspace

Post by spacekdet »

Anyone have an easy way to restore a missing icon(s) in Workspace?

I don't want to reset to default context and start all over when all I need is one (ok, a few) missing icons restored.

It's a snap in Model, what's the trick for Workspace?

The missing icons are the 'views' flyout (Top, Side, etc). Not sure where they've gone, but I'd like them back.
Found them in the library, but they don't seem to do anything.

Also, is there any way to modify the toolbar that pops up inside a new 3D Window?
Why in the hell is 'new scene' is in there but change view (to Top, Side, etc) isn't?

I customized one to my liking, but the changes don't 'stick'.

To Reset a toolbar, LMB select the Down Arrow/Reset.
Try this Custom toolbar:

Read the whole thread for info.

Is this what you are wanting?

If you open another view within a window the change view from the main window will
work for any other window that is in focus. No need for the same icon in the new windows.
Well less clutter for me anyways...

Not really clutter, just less mousing. I'd swap it out with the useless 'new scene' icon.
Who opens a new small view and then starts a new scene?
Also seems odd that I'd need a second set of hair tools but no quick change for the view. Now that's clutter.

Is it a 'special' toolbar or something; is that why changes to it aren't persistent?

Ironically, the change view icon is one of the ones that's gone missing.
Which toolbar is it normally in?

With my skill I'll reset the right one last and spend another enjoyable evening rebuilding the interface.

All (most) the toolbars that are installed by default have a backup (prototype) that are located in the System. These are the ones that are used to Reset to the default uncustomized state.
The toolbar in question here is called the WorkspaceNav toolbar (see below) and it has a prototype.
Also it does NOT have a New Scene icon.
After you customize a toolbar, save your Layout.
If you want to customize these toolbars, you have to save them to with stand a Reset.
Here is a script that will save all of the toolbars in their present state.
Warning: You should Reset ALL toolbars and or customize them before running this script.

And dont forget the 'deactivate workspace NAV toolbar' tool, by Clintonman? This will turn it off and on as desired but maybe better just to drag out the tools you need and leave it off!.

Not to change the original topic, but is it possible to keep the workside menu bars expanded like in modelside? Thanks, Leroy.

Ask for Tiles for his UI which shows all I believe. It is pretty good!
I thought we had it here but I couldn't find it.
