If you want something invisible and want FX too... my tip

Post by tamtam »

Okay, this might work just as well on the workspace side of TS7.6, but I mostly know how to use the model side, so...
(Using the model side)
If you want something invisible and want FX too...
1. Select your object, and open the material editor.
2. Make the object completely transparent (so that you don't see your object when you don't have it selected).
3a. (Workspace side only).Add cloth on the object if you want to drape it to make it somewhat of the form of your object, without the object being seen.
3b. (Model Side only). Add particles to the selected 'invisible' object. This could be usefull for making a human torch-like effect if you use particles to make fire effects on a low-polygon human model.

I hope my tip is usefull to someone.

This could do some interesting effects with the physics simulation too. I made the projectiles invisible for the Splododyne Explodiatory Explodolators.

nice idea tamtam, but how exactly do you make the object invisible in the material editor?
