Re: Chariot

Thanks Karthogen. I appreciate all advice about ads and business related to my gallery but it belongs in my off topic thread http://united3dartists.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=35" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. For ads and business stuff related to selling models remember I'm not ...

Re: Chariot

@Froo: Tell me about it. Until I get a job, or a big jolt of paying customers, I can hardly afford ads for my gallery business ... which means no jolt of customers signing up ... which ... uh oh, some kind of vicious circle there. Creating an effective ad isn't so easy either.

Re: Chariot

Yeah Nigec, that's a problem for lots of businesses or money making efforts -- everyone expects free stuff. They feel entitled to it and won't even pay for better stuff. For me though trying to sell models is just for burger money and to encourage me to make better ones. (The way the job situation i...

Re: Creating frosted glass.

Mostly things don't work in 3D like they do in the real world. So extra and filler lights and various tricks are usually needed. I'm no expert on that but I'm sure some here will comment. Lamp scene: There are 2 lights under the shade and 1 or 2 behind the camera. The lights under the shade project ...

Re: Chariot

Hi Theuns,

I'm not sure about where to sell it other than several 3D sites have model sales areas, Turbosquid, and 3dFrog's place. Anywhere I can find that seems of good reputation.

Experience or suggestions anyone?

Re: Creating frosted glass.

I just edited the previous post to add a link to a lamp I made (object and texture image available there ... which has a zillion polys) with a good shade and a pic of the material settings. The non-SDS parts (from memory, I already deleted the scene file) were mostly simple cylinders etc. They had a...

Re: Creating frosted glass.

Antialiasing smooths the edges of things in a picture. Especially diagonal lines that can get that "stair step" jagged edge. Higher settings (2X, 3X, 4X) take longer to render but do a better job. Adaptive antialiasing tries to apply itself only where needed to do it faster. I render most test pictu...

Re: Everyone an Artisr but me?

I think being able to draw, paint, sculpt, or do photography is an advantage in making 3D art. Knowledge of color theory, composition, and such are a big help. But, it is imagination and creativity that count most. Gain skill in a medium like TS/3D and general knowledge (composition, color), apply c...

Re: New here :-)

You got it about the sides. That's the way it is. However, while the workspace does not have the full feature set many of its tools are powerful and finished or usable. I mostly don't use the workspace since modelspace (modelside) does much of what I want. For your walk through, workspace's real tim...
