Re: Short Term Plans

I'll shoot cans and plastic cups this weekend or next. Or not. I'm too lazy to clean up which often deters me. Also need to find cheap ammo.

Re: 3D Artists Reporting Back

A cashier at Walmart looked like Angela Merkel.

Did they catch that guy Mikom? I'll guess they won't be able to identify him with mask and no cameras. Did you describe his bike for the police?

Great entries. James' makes me want to read a comic book. Mikom's has the vibe of an arms deal. That old fashioned computer! The red nose cones!

Re: Finis' Experiments and Scribbles

Thanks Dragneye! I have an MSI gtx 1060 gaming X and a used Zotac gtx 1070 ti amp. I planned to get another used 1070 ti amp on ebay then sell my 1060 there. I found a good deal. Arrived just 2 days later. Not a ti though. Reviewed the item listing and it didn't say it was a ti. Looks like there are...

145F (62.8C)! And the high earlier today 152F (66.7C)! A world record. What's that you say? Full sun? Black asphalt roof shingle? Stop denying my narrative.

Re: Finis' Experiments and Scribbles

Too much trouble to fix the lighting problem on my ufo animation with compositing. Shouldn't be that way anyway. Controlling shadows is a normal part of CG and rendering software that shouldn't be missing from B2.8 or eevee. So I'll fix this when the shadows work right in eevee. I see that there was...

Re: 3D Artists Reporting Back

"I guess it feels different tho". I hear that. I was born in East Texas. Almost a swamp with sweaty wet air. Here, desert, it's usually over 100F for weeks this time of year while I work outside. Dry air no problem. Don't want to do that in your wet air.

Re: 3D Artists Reporting Back

A bit cooler than usual here all Spring. Gimme back my heat you heat theives!

What's interesting, at least in the short term, is how chilly much of the world has been this year so far. Heat waves will be reported. Season long chill and record lows will be memory holed.

Re: Finis' Experiments and Scribbles

I discovered that the glow object is not illuminated by any lights but there are shadows. It only has an emission node and stuff to generate the procedural texture but no diffuse or glossy or other to receive light. I've found no eevee way to stop the shadows just for the glow object. No problem. I'...

Re: Finis' Experiments and Scribbles

Thanks Mikom. I'm thinking about making another version sometime. I want the glowing objects to light the fog, trees, and ground a little. Problem: It would take eons to render with cycles using enough samples for fog effect in the light. Eevee doesn't cast light from emissive materials. Also it doe...
